Keane wrote:I can't disagree, considering how the site went from posting fanart, gifs, everything about Jon to completely shitting over him because he said "Retarded" on Twitter.
And I salute Jon for refusing to apologize, he did nothing wrong and people are overreacting.
One thing I loved about Jon in comparison to Danny was just hearing Jon gush about his nostalgic love for Banjo-kazooie, describing all the minor details. It really reminds me of this entire community and why we love Rayman so much. We notice all the small details because we grew up on the series. I do wish Danny would hold more interests for gaming now but I do enjoy still watching him. To be honest while yes, Danny is definitely funnier than Jon in grumps, I don't know, I prefer listening to Jon's nostalgic memories because it's such a relateable and great thing to hear. Jon had so much enthusiasm, while Arin always just kind of laid there like "Yeah... cool".
My favorite episode of Grumps will always be the Guest Grumps with Grant Kirkhope, never have I seen such a perfect combination of humor and just discussion at the same time. Grant was such an amazing guest, and really brought out the best parts of Arin and Jon that we'll likely never see again. It just ends up with what you prefer, and for me, I just really prefer hearing Jon's experiences as a kid with these games, Jon really showed he wanted to focus on the game and have a good time while Arin a good chunk of the time just showed no interest in completing.
Keane wrote: I can tell that with no nostalgia or anything for Mario 64, it's just kind of an obscure, badly aged game to him.
I'm totally fine if Arin doesn't like Mario 64, but when he goes far as to shoving his opinion down anyone's throat similar to his Zelda sequelitis it's a problem.
Keane wrote:As for Arin, I actually think he can make some really decent arguments
True, he did bring some good arguments to the table, but the Zelda sequelitis had to be one of the most awful things I've seen in a long time. He not only has shown us a darker, rather bitter and abrasive side to him, but the whole sequelitis just felt like a huge negative/bully fest to anyone who enjoys the game. Remember at the beginning of the video? He depicted everyone who prefers OoT over A Link to The Past as a fat neckbeard basement dweller. Yes I know, it's a joke, but the point is a really abrasive side of Arin comes out. One of my favorite comments here that I 100% agree with:
Alec Aquino wrote:You know, Arin has a lot of good points here. He really does. But he just comes off as such a smug asshole in his delivery that I want to disagree with everything he says just out of principle. A Link to the Past is MY personal favorite Legend of Zelda game of all time and this guy is making me want to defend Ocarina of Time because I can't stand the way he is aggressively bullying it to death.
You wanna know what made his past sequelitis's so good? He offered actual critique and not just things he personally didn't like. He offered a more fun way of doing retrospectives/reviews that most reviewers didn't tackle. Arin is a very impatient man, and for that reason is why he hates OoT. If you can't sit through a minor treasure chest scene without throwing a bitch fit, there's something legitimately wrong with you. But Arin has admitted on GG that he has ADD, so there you go.
Keane wrote:Arin having recently gotten out of some stressful thing, think he posted about it on the reddit.
This would make a lot of sense, he said he wanted to do a re-analysis sort of for his Zelda sequelitis as even he himself realizes he came off incredibly abrasive in his delivery.
What bothers me more than Arin's abrasiveness on the Zelda sequelitis were the massive amount of people in the comments who thought he was right. A minor treasure waiting scene, no matter how much you justify it isn't an actual critique, it goes to show how hypocritical he is of cutscenes and tutorials in games when he himself states MGS is one of his favorite games. It really bothers the hell out of me when I see a comment saying "You know maybe Arin was right." As if these people don't know how to think for themselves, they need Arin to decide.
I'm scared honestly, a new generation of gamers will be exposed to his Zelda sequelitis and just think he's right and never play it based off his silly critiques towards it.

And what is just downgrading the quality of the Grump channel is the amount of shows they have.
Game Grumps
Steam Train
Table Flip
Grumpcade
That's four shows and are constantly updated on a near daily basis.

Suzy has her own lets play channel named "Kittykatgaming", considering Suzy plays a big part in the community that could also be bringing it down.

What are you, a misogynist? Gurlz can bee gamer grillz.
Also, the Grump Cade theme song is just effortless and so soulless. How do I know? I'm watching their playthrough of DKC 3. Damn this Donkey Kong Country high of mine.

I love how bringing the slightest criticism to someone in gaming who happens to be a woman all of a sudden makes us misogynists, lol (I know you're joking Brad, I'm just referring to people who are actually like this.)

Actually I kinda like Table Flip, I think it's much more entertaining, especially where they play games with 8-10 players. It's edited well and overall I like discovering board games better than I like discovering video games through Youtube.
And I would like Grumpcade better if they only played something with a guest. The stuff with ProJared was good IMO. Otherwise it does feel like Arin wants to play everything.

I've only watched one Table flip, Stamper and Spazkid really made it excellent.
Hm... I've only been slightly exposed to Grumpcade, they did that "Smash bros with realistic claps video", correct?
It was funny I guess? I think people made a huge deal out of it, it was funny the first few times but when I saw a bunch of gaming websites constantly posting it, it honestly lost it's humor fast.
Yes Projared is awesome!

Arin says he hates Donkey Kong. And he doesn't even animate anymore. Lost my interest I. His stuff all together now.

Which one? I highly doubt he hates the original but I think he said he didn't like Country 2.

No, in their latest DKC 3 playthrough he states that he hates Donkey Kong in general. That bitch.
The only way he plays is if he had someone to play together.

Wow. It makes no sense for Arin to hate DK Country when he's played through both 1 and 2 with Jon. It's ironic too since a lot of the mechanics from Megaman X on what made it have good game design are also present in Donkey Kong Country. Too bad he's too stubborn to notice it. Does Arin enjoy playing games he hates to death? I mean yeah, you have guys who play bad games for the sake of enjoyment, but not to this extent. Is Arin being sarcastic or what? If he's serious about hating DKC he really is one of the most miserable people ever. And you say I cherrypick Brad, lol. You can definetly tell the commenters are smartening up finally and kind of pointing out Arin's bullshit. Still a rare sight though.
If Arin keeps up this ignorant attitude he will lose a bunch of fans.

Nono Grumpcade is them... uh, playing games I guess. You're thinking of GrumpOut or something? It's been like 902138120382193021 minutes since I watched Game Grumps, wow.

Good, modern grumps is pretty bad. Jon Era/Early Dan Era was excellent.

What even makes Arin more of a hypocrite is that he seem to have a good time with Tropical Freeze. Even more so than Danny.

I think he's just referring to the older DKC games he hates. Which doesn't surprise me. Arin has this hipster attitude to him so whatever.

I don't really disagree with Arin when he says that he only likes playing it with friends. Now I do love the classic Donkey Kong, but, I dunno, it's a bit more of an acquired taste gameplay wise, as well as that you have to really like DK not in a "oh the mario character" way but as an actual stand alone series. Returns and Tropical Freeze are a lot more accessible imo, kind of in the same way as Rayman 1 and Origins/Legends. I don't think he's shitting on the game, he more dislikes it personally, and that's fine...but on the other hand they just uploaded several minutes of Arin getting pissy with Super Mario 64 because the game is making him focus for a minute.
Grumps is fine, but like I said, if they're gonna do a series that's over 15 episodes, have it be something they really enjoy. Zelda II, Mario Sunshine, 3D World, Kirby's Epic Yarn, all great series, and all games they really had fun with. Watching Arin not even realise that he's spending an entire recording session of Pokemon on mindlessly training one Pokemon or feel tired when Mario 64 wants him to do anything he can't do while not really paying attention just makes it all really lackluster and after a while even Dan seems to run out of things to say.
