Well, it could have just been a rather plain and lacklustre SNES title, for all we know.

Perhaps, but it seems to me that the SNES version would probably be about the same in quality as the Jaguar version.

Hm, when I've looked at it, I've always thought it looked a little...generic in a way, compare the final Skops to the one in the ol' screenshots, for instance.

I had a real Jaguar controller in my hands when I went to GAME ON at Lisbon's Museu da Arte Popular and I tried to imagine how it feels like playing Rayman 1 on it. It felt like holding a huge brick, except it is made of plastic.

You're right. The collision detection is the worst of all the R1s I've played.
technology4617 wrote: There are actually a lot of sound bugs in the emulator, which are also shown in the playthrough you recorded.
Oh that's most likely to be the only minor problem of the emulation, otherwise I don't remember anything else.

The whole keypad was really not needed. Also look at this:

Regular controller

Pro controller

How about controller without keypad Atari? I guess not. I wonder if some other controllers would work on Jaguar like Sega Genesis controller.
It worked on older Atari consoles.

Good way of putting it.:P

Both look like poorly designed Genesis pad ripoffs. With keypads.

Well, this is Atari we're talking about. And the Genesis controller is probably not compatible, due to their brilliant exclusive controller.

Also, it seems Atari tried to follow in the muddy footprints of Sega by providing its own tumors to the console.

I think I'll "do the math" and avoid this piece of shit.

Hmm, I'm wanting one of those pro controllers for my Jaguar, now. :)

The only difference aside from the slightly different design pattern that I see, is the inclusion of three extra buttons. Was it worthy knowing how many buttons it had already?

Where there many games that took advantage of the extra buttons?

Guys finally! I made it! I fixed the Rayman 1 Beta rom for the Jaguar. The issue was: it should be loaded as an alpine rom but they were like 8k too much. So I cutted that out and zeroed the last lines. And voilà I can play it finally under Virtual Jaguar! :D
(yes that one with the 'pow' above)

I am going to upload it when I move back home and have highspeed internet connection again.

You are going to do it? Nice! What recorder will you use since Bandicam somehow does the gameplay slower.

Now.

Just put the zip file to your Software folder. You don't have to extract it ;)
It would be nice if a mod can put the link to the first post, thanks!

It works! Although, I cannot fight Bzzit. Is there any way to progess after him?
I will probably use PlayClaw or DXTory to record. Thanks again.

No you can't and no there is nothing more left/developed?. Remember this one is made in 1993 and just a prototype. I remember there was a very old video on youtube presenting this proto and he couldn't fight bzzit as well.

Alright. Ah well, it's still cool, and Rayman's scrapped move is interesting too.

Press down and wait until he crouches and walk infront of an enemy and get hit. Stand still and watch what happens ;P
