Homemade cheesecakes are always the best, I would really recommendThe Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:03 am I want to try making my own cheesecake someday. Using the springform pan I bought for mom and she's never used. And without using a storebought crust like my dad does. I love being obsessed with cheesecake.![]()

Re: Favourite cake?
Unlike last year, I haven't made many cakes this year... I've been extremely busy!
The last cake I made was an oreo one for my birthday. This year I'll probably make a turrón custard.

Re: Favourite cake?
I'm sure only British millennials are going to understand this one but today I got some school cakes. Or to those neither British or millennial, vanilla sponge with plain white icing and sprinkles. Great nostalgic stuff.

It's not nougat, but it's similar. I'm very sure turron sounds familiar in Italy, Portugal and France. It's weird to sell it on summer, but I guess it is for foreigners who aren't used to see it.The Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:52 am Turron makes me think of bananas for some reason but it's nougat right?

Re: Favourite cake?
Both the base and the top are easy. What's complicated is the middle one, but if you use white chocolate it makes your life easier and the cake doesn't end up destroyed
The cakes that I don't like at all are those that use a lot of sponge cake...

Good thing I like white chocolate and Oreos then! Probably this wouldn’t be something I consistently eat every day I have it.

Re: Favourite cake?
My favourite cake ever is named "Torta della nonna" (Gradma's cake).
It is a shortcrust pastry cake stuffed with cream and some pine nuts and garnished with pine nuts and icing sugar
Now that I am thinking about it I want some right now

Re: Favourite cake?
I've developed a fondness for Milk Cake the last few years, only problem is that the dessert place we go to gives rather large portions and I don't have the stomach for that much cake anymore T_T
Still in smaller slices, would deffo recc to anyone who happened to be curious

Red Velvet but a good carrot cake goes a long way too. Cheesecake is a staple and if you can call brownie a cake, then that's my most frequent eats

A lot of these cakes definitely seem like they’d be worth a try! I don’t usually have that many different types of cake

Ooh yeah I enjoy a good red velvet if I can either get it vegetarian or make one myself, I miss the days of making my own red velvet cupcakes.
