Depeche mode - And Then...

EDIT : About Daft Punk's RAM : The best electronic band (with Celldweller) is back in the charts and this is really a great news. I was worried about the fact they haven't been releasing an album during several years (I'm not considering Tron : Legacy OST as a real album although I have it and that it's pretty good, because meh this is a soundtrack...), but the announce of Random Access Memories caught me off guard :D.

RAM will be quite epic, if I can judge that by the preview of Get Lucky alone. Daft Punk: shut up and take my money.

Gorillaz - On Melancholy Hill

Their music has really grown on me. Definitely my favourite band together with Radiohead.

Yeah, Gorillaz are amazing, Demon Days is a near perfect album in my opinion.

I'd say Plastic Beach for the best presentation, although The Fall is brilliant, too.

I've been listening to Radiohead's discography (obviously) lately, having only recently gotten into them. While I still enjoy them, I think the majority of their songs don't do as much for me as most other bands I listen to. However, there are a few Radiohead pieces that I love the shit out of such as Dollars & Cents, Treefingers and I End where You Begin; the last song has such a freaking awesome drum track.

I tend to prefer their work from the Kid / Amnesiac era. Kid A is just so fucking beautiful. Remains my favourite music of anything no matter how often I listen to it. What makes their music in general appealing to me is how pure it is. I often find that music that tries to mean something doesn't come across fully. The band doesn't just write lyrics to "send a message to people" but instead expresses it differently. Take a typical "We have to start a war against the corrupt" song for example. I often don't believe that artists are actually trying to bring something across but instead just want to sound like they are meaningful or dark of whatever buggery idea they have. Radiohead, especially in that era, nail this concept perfectly by actually meaning what a song is about, rather then just writing lyrics to create some sort of image for themselves. Of course it doesn't all come from lyrics, and that's what the band does well, too. Morning Bell does not have sensible lyrics, Treefingers has none at all, and yet they complete what Kid A is telling.

Or maybe I'm being overly philosophical and should go to bed.

And also, Pablo Honey is an awful album.

Agreed. However, I don't think Pablo Honey is quite as bad as people say it is. Don't get me wrong though, it's still 'ehmmhmm... mhmhmhm.'

Also, I've got to add All I Need to that list of mine. <3

Also on the topic of radio head. Love them, and it seems you guys have listed songs I have not heard, I will look them up sometime. Really like coldplay as well. Times like these make me wish I had an MP3 that was as good as an Ipod classic but cheaper.

Pablo Honey is mediocre. I like a few songs when played separately, but as an album together it sounds all sounds too much like each other thus making it feel like you're listening to one huge, endless song, something I really can't stand. That's why I fell in love with Origins of Symmetry quickly. It kinda has that huge song feel to it, but they just nailed it so perfectly on that album that it never stops being awesome.

Totally. I know this sounds absurd, but at times I consider Origin of Symmetry to be my personal least favourite album, because there are songs from every other album that I like better than any of the songs in OoS. Then again though, on terms of quality and brilliant writing, Origin of Symmetry is one of their best. I feel like I should start changing my personal opinion at some point soon, too.

Also, I just realised how fucking funny this music video is:

At 2:26, when he points forward, I literally laughed out loud. It's so ridiculously goofy, but the attire makes it beyond dignified.
