Lol
Well that was a strange anitclmatic answer.

Re: Rayman 1
But if you think of it, those platforms serve no purpose other than in the Jaguar version as you can't climb on them. Which means they likely just left them in the game since the original version.

Re: Rayman 1
I was more curious with that ceiling when you start in the beginning of Bongo Hills 2.
Re: Rayman 1
Hmm... Yeah enemies (antitoons) seem to spawn up there. Can I climb up there though I wonder? The Jonster wrote:I was more curious with that ceiling when you start in the beginning of Bongo Hills 2.

Re: Rayman 1
Yup! Still I can't believe that platform doesn't exist in most other versions. Why?
Re: Rayman 1
I don't actually know since they did leave the other there over the moths. Well you can climb on the platform too. The antitoons still spawn in the other versions but they just fall down.
There's a lot of other differences on the Jaguar version and less level parts on some levels too if I'm not wrong.
EDIT: another weird one is the jumping. Like if you hit a ceiling etc. he'll continue to float for a second until the jump ends. Another one is that if you hit the top and move across he'll still rise up if you know what I mean.

Re: Rayman 1
So many amazing things about the Jaguar version. WHne I actually get one i should test it myself.
Re: Rayman 1
Here's what I mean by the jumping.
Remember, this is the original version and the other versions are a lot more polished then this one I guess is the way to put it but I think it's cool

Re: Rayman 1
Those are really weird physics. Guess they fixed it for the other versions?
Re: Rayman 1
Yeah basically. The other versions don't do that, he just falls back down as soon as he hit's the top.
So I'm contributing with actual Rayman information now yay!
Even if it is unimportant stuff that nobody really cares about

Re: Rayman 1
Hooray for you! Which reminds me, I should contribute with something too but filling out all those stubs!

Re: Rayman 1
I can't remember doing it as a kid without cheats but I have to do it without the 99 lives cheat. When I do that and hear "you've saved the world" then I'll feel the same
I nearly have the Saturn version completed and haven't used a continue yet so I can do it, but just haven't bothered. I guess I'll finish it later then play the PS1 version again without any cheats

Re: Rayman 1
This Jaguar stuff is really interesting. While most of Allegro Presto seems to have been designed for the PS/PC versions then awkwardly back ported to the Jaguar one, these Bongo Hills sections seem to have been primarily developed with the Jaguar version in mind.
It occurs to me that Bongo Hills is a very long level. Maybe it was originally two and they squashed them together when they decided to add Allegro Presto. Although there's a prototype out there that may refute that. I can't really remember what's in it.

Re: Rayman 1
Oh yeah, especially with the lack of sliding physics, mainly in Allegro Presto. It's just filled with an excessive amount of Hunter's instead to make it harder.
The extra platform at the beginning of Bongo Hills is interesting too and how you can reach all the platforms, but no longer can in the other versions which basically as you said means they did have thay version in mind for some of the design.
The lack of sliding physics is another mystery though, especially since the platforms from the non sliding version remained in the other versions still yet you couldn't reach them.

Re: Rayman 1
Each version, I feel has differences from the other versions, so all these little things that look like they don't mean a lot to normal gamers I find mysterious and interesting. I still have to try the Jaguar version myself, and then I can say I've tried all the versions! (well barring remakes)
Re: Rayman 1
Oh yeah and the PC cage locations are far different
