Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I am lucky with the Hoodblaster, usually it survives in about 60% of the attempts. When I played today at noon it survived in about 30% of all attempts.
Anyway, I've managed the big combo three times already but I keep struggling with the green gem.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Good luck with it. I'm still stuck there, too, I tried the extended version and I had more problems than expected, in most cases with the piggybank and the Green Gem.
By the way, I think Jona's Combo could be done like this:
Destroy cage, collect blue can, getting all the gems, destroy piggybank, collect the gems, kill first Hoodblaster and get the Vortex, swim to the first island, get gems, swim to the next, get gems, swim to the last, take first gem, send a shot to Stumbleboom, collect the last, then, run as fast as you can to the mushroom (while you're collectin the Vortex),when the red arrow is pointing at him, shoot him down, get the red gem, shoot down the next, get red gem, send a curved shot at the slapdash, collect blue can, go as far away as you can, beat him, run very quickly to the remaining Hoodblaster kill him, beat the Spinneroo, get Matuvu, grab the ring, destroy piggybank, jump down get yellow gems including the one in the earth).

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
It should go about like that, that's correct. But you have to leave the few yellow gems that are on the island on the side of the Matuvu, so you can continue the combo after the Slapdash. Otherwise it's not possible. Also, you have to leave the other yellow gems so you can continue the combo after the Stumbleboom, because I think it's not possible to reach the mushroom in time after beating the Stumbleboom. But you should be able to do that with the yellow gems. And after beating the last Slapdash you indeed have to hurry like hell to reach the first yellow gem on your right hand on the island (also by rolling off the last mushroom) and after the last yellow gem there, beat the second Hoodblaster, then beat the Spinneroo and as you do IMMEDIATELY activate the look mode and get the matuvu, then grapple onto the hook etc.
So in summary, it would go like this:
1. Break the cage and get the Lockjaw (you have to jump on the first mushroom for that, it works but you have to make a perfect jump).
2. Break the piggy bank, get the gems that appeared from the piggy bank (ONLY THOSE SIX!!!) and beat the Hoodblaster standing nearest to the piggy bank.
3. Jump across the island to the small islands where the fish jump across, with the yellow gems. Get the gems in combo, shoot the Stumbleboom just after the last gem.
4. Run back in the direction of the mushrooms and the Slapdashes, there should be a yellow gem to continue the combo with. Renew the Vortex in the process, after collecting the last yellow gem near the mushrooms shoot the first mushroom, get the red gem on it, shoot the second one, get the red gem and shoot one of the Slapdashes.
5. Get the Lockjaw, jump back onto the mushroom, shoot the Slapdash from there and HURRY to the island. Follow it counter-clockwise and get the yellow gems there in combo (it should be possible to reach the gem just in time after the last step).
6. Beat the Hoodblaster with another charged shot. Run to the Spinneroo, charge up your fist, release the charged shot IN A CURVE and then immediately give him another shot. Immediately after doing so, the Spinneroo should have been defeated.
7. Activate look mode very quickly, get the Matuvu in combo (the combo will last longer than two seconds if done fast enough since the combo time of the Spinneroo which is 5 seconds, will still count), swing across the hook, break the piggy bank and jump into the hole to get the yellow gems underground.
I don't remember my score after this part though, so it will probably be up to one of you guys to find out

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I wonder if it yields more points. It would be awesome if it did.
In fact, I'm curious as to whether more points can be made in part 4 too. I have an idea for a combo, but it's a bit farfetched... it involves taking the green gem after a yellow gem and killing the Hoodblaster in the first room with the one in the hallway. I'm also exploring whether it's possible to take the green gem after one of the Slapdashes further on - at the moment I'm two seconds off getting it in time so it could be impossible.
Anyway curse part 5

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
It should virtually always be worth more. Unless you really take all the Hoodlums and the Matuvu first, and then the gems.. but that way the combo is impossible anyway.
Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I had a look at BOM part 2 and I tried to do some calculations over the two methods, the old one and the new one (Jona). I reserve the right to do miscalculations. I have grouped the objects in groups of five, as it easier to calculate (and to verify) the combos that way. Here y stands for yellow gem.
New method:
Pig yyyy|yy Hoodblaster yy|yyyy Hoodboom|yy Mushroom red Mushroom |red Slapdash Slapdash yyy Hoodblaster Hoodlock Matuvu Pig yyyyyy
This gives a combo of 80 + 560 + 840 + 560 + 6.400 = 8.440 points
In straight points it gives 27x20 + 4x60 + 3x260 + 200 + 500 = 2.260 points
All in all: 10.700 points,
Thus if one has 2.780 points after part 1 it should give after part 2: 13.480 points.
Old method:
yyy Pig y|yyyyy|yy Hoodblaster yy|yyyy Hoodboom| Hoodblaster Hoodlock Mushroom red Mushroom red Slapdash Slapdash Matuvu
Combo: 80 + 200 + 840 + 1.120 + 5.900 = 8.140
Straight: 20x20 + 4x60 + 4x260 + 500 = 2.180
The last combo (Pig + 6 yellow gems in tree) total: 300
All in all: 10.620 points.
After part 2: 13.400 points
Note: We usually get 6 yellow gems in the tree, sometimes only five if one misses the one under ground. There are actually seven yellow gems, the last one is, as far as I can see, not under ground, but can be taken on the way down somehow. I managed it one time out of 10 attempts, but it’s something to be investigated. It will add 120 points to Jona’s method and 60 points to the old method.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Hmm, the combo is indeed a good idea, but is it worth, those 80 points? For a top player it's a lot, but alone the Matuvu in these combo is a challenge.
BTW, the Frozen-Trick doesn't work anymore

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Well, it's time to tell you overcredulous guys the truth.
The most people were used to call me Nikra (aka R3 Legend-Player), so you know what that means, eh?
Yeah, I'm the player with the highest amount of points, and you say everytime how an amazing score 850.000 is...
It was just so green that you believed me all the time, and everytime when I made an improvement, you said: "Congratulations", or something else...
I still can't imagine how naive you are
It's such a shame you aren't as good as me...
Hehe, proper you must pay for that you heard the most amazing R3-Player which the world ever had seen....
I will leave now and let you dumbasses with your creepy scores alone….
*Just kidding*
Sorry, I must did that, cuz' I'm so happy about my newest result in BOM, Part 3: 44.718

How I said, it was only a joke
And Nikra was the creepy guy who got 999.999 in Rayman 3

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Wow, I thought you had been possessed by demons for a second. I remember Nikra as a lying cheat so I prefer not to associate him to anyone here - I was sincerely dumbstruck when you confessed you were him. Oh well, good joke I guess.
And you got 44718 in part 3? Damn you! How could you get a better score than me?
Well played.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Hey R3 nerds!
I've started playing R3 again and I'm going to try and get some decent scores in the process. I'm quite a noob when it comes to making combos and stuff, so I would like to know which level you pro's would recommend me to start with. In other words: Which level has the least hard combos and is easiest to get a good score in?

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I think I would recommend DOTK or LOTLD. DOTK is probably the level where it is easiest to get a good score. LOTLD has a lot of medium hard combos. There are loads of points in this level and it’s fun to play.
You can find walkthroughs for almost every level on page 1 in this thread. There are some videos as well. These walkthroughs are meant as guides to the maximum scores in each level, but they can be used to get ideas for all kinds of scoring ambitions.
What are your scores in each level?

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Yeah, DOTK and TLOTLD are the best levels to start off with, definitely. It depends whether you want to go for the maximum score (which isn't incredibly difficult in these levels) or a good score.
Personally, I'd suggest TLOTLD because you can get so many points there - the maximum is 119,599. But yeah, check through the solutions on the first page to find the level that's most suitable for you
EDIT: I've just remembered to ask about part 6. I'm aware that I need to check my score thoroughly before leaving part 5 so that I don't have to drop one hundred points or so before I even go for the combo, in part 6. I wonder, what score should I go for? 100799 or 99999? How difficult is 14000 points in part 6? What does it involve doing? It's been a while since I've played this part so I don't actually remember anything about it, hehe.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I would recommend you to play the level you like most. Getting a high score is difficult in each of the levels (some more, some less, of course) and when you start playing after a long pause you'll probably have troubles with each level and it will take you some time to manage the major combos. I don't know if it's the same for you but I have more patience for levels (and also parts) I like than for the ones I'm not fond of. You'll need a lot of patience, therefore play a level, which is still fun for you after many restarts and which you have the patience for to restart again and again.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I can't help you with that, there you must asked MandM or sfn. Indeed, congratulations! It's a good score for Part 6. I know, you probably know it, but there are informations a few sites before...
Well, for Part 3. it was really an ordeal cuz' I had to disclaim on the Muddibog-Trick. The biggest problems I had with the Hoodlum in the near of the cage.
I would as well play DOTK or LOTLD first. There are loads of points there, and you might be able to make some middle-big combos there. And DOTK, when you find all secrets, it's not too difficult to reach a good score, and the combos there until Part 7 are easy.
I'd also suggest you CF, it's fun and easy to play.

I also experienced problems there. Did you shoot the second Muddibog in the corridor when you were ahead of it?
