Global warming at work.

Call it "Climate Change". Attributing loads of snow to something called "Global Warming" is just confusing.

Calling it "Climate Change" may be less confusing, but it's also much less fun.
Perhaps we should compromise and say that it has something to do with the "Ozone Layer" that nobody talks about any more.

Nobody talks about the ozone layer any more because we managed to save it a long time ago.
And global warming means that the average temperature of the atmosphere will rise, not that it will be hot all the time and that really cold winters will be impossible. An unusually cold winter in Ireland most likely has nothing to do with industrial release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Just remember: Every time you pollute you make Al Gore cry!

Climate Change has nothing to do with the ozone layer.

I thought that cold weather could be caused by pollution due to greenhouse-gas-induced melting ice pouring into the sea and disrupting the flow of warm water or something?
The last thing I heard about the ozone layer was that there was a huge hole in it above Antartica or something. Then everyone stopped worrying about it. I assumed they had just given up on saving it by this stage.

Question. How did we save the ozone layer? It must have been since about 1998 we heard about the hole in it.

We stopped letting chlorine-based chemicals flow into the air, that's how.

And the hole sealed itself, just like that?

I think that, over time, ozone is naturally remade. It's not finished though.

By what? Trees?

By a chemical reaction in stratosphere including oxygen and UV rays, according to Wikipedia
О2 + hν → 2О
О2 + O → О3
O3 being ozone

As long as we don't start using CFC again (not gonna happen), scientists estimate that the ozone layer should be restored to its natural "thickness" by 2050.

FFS If we don't start getting salt from abroad, I swear to God I'm going to crack my neck open on these pavements! They're covered in frozen snow, and it rained last night and you can imagine now just how slippy it is.
