Caddy probably didn't reach the required lums needed although we never see the amount of lums he collected on the save file used to review the game.
or due to how much he sucked at R1, he chose not to cover it because he'll probably be raging out.

on a side note, has anyone noticed how rayman starts out at one area of razorbeard's ships being the prisonbut when rayman fights razorbeard it's on top of another ship in a different area of razorbeard's ships.

I had read there was some dll to make Rayman 2 work with controllers, but I have absolutely no idea how any of this works.

That's pretty handy! I remember using similar software back in the days because the original Xbox controllers were just way too bulky. Such great memories playing all those games when I couldn't even afford the console! 'Twas a tad slow, but who cared back then?

The only problem was key mapping. For some reason, I had to use another key mapping software on top, which I had to switch off when I was done playing or else it would mess up my typing. Unfortunately, I once forgot to disable it after playing for a few hours on my dad's computer (I wasn't allowed to use that one), and when he got back he found that all the keys were mixed up and he ordered a new keyboard. That took a while. Of course, the problem persisted, and he called a friend for help. When his friend found about the key mapping software, my dad stayed put, waited for his friend to leave, and then he took me to the garage and beat the living shit out of me with a set of jumper cables.

They're the same ship. Why did you think they were different?

Okay, so I got the gog version and did this. It works just fine. I only have one more question: is there somewhere I can see the default Rayman 2 controls for an Xbox gamepad? Because I can't pause the game with the controller, I need to go to the PC and press escape.

I might end up having a go at getting the PC version working properly with controller support but right now now the dreamcast version is the best by far. The PS2 version looks more appealing with the colours it has but the dreamcast is so fluid at 60fps. I'd already posted I'm the modding forums about it with a picture comparing the 2 and the colours but there's no point posting it again here. Of all versions I've tried so far I favour the Dreamcast unless maybe the PC one is better.

A lot of people might not know this because the chair goes to fast.

In the Top Of The World in Rayman 2 The Great Escape, sometime later in the floating chair joyride track, there is infrastructure with a gun that is supposed to fire at Rayman along the way. When you take a close look at that gun if you can. (It is difficult to see it properly because of the chair's speed)

The gun is strangely the same model as the Robo-Henchman 800's arm projectile-shooter arm.

Makes sense I guess. Why make a new model for something the player's just going to fly past once in the whole game?
I wonder why Rayman auto-aims at it though. It's not like it's actually destructible, right?

It is, though.

The golden fist shots seem to make it more effective OR just mash the shoot button until it is enough that the gun disappears.
As you can see here:

but meh...Why bother?

I still haven't completed it yet I'm in progress, but one of the things I like about it is the old game nostalgia. You don't exactly get told what to do, you get a hint and then have to try figure it out on your own. Not sure if that's just specific to the Dreamcast as when I tried the first part of the PS2 they were giving me tutorials. I also noticed that you can't shoot with your fist up until the teensies on PS2 whereas on Dreamcast Globox gives you that power at the beginning.

That shooting feature is probably exclusive to the Nintendo 64 version, if it is that version. Judging it by the look of the font.

You can shoot when being on the chair on the PC version too I think.

You can do it on all versions. By the way, that part in The Top of the World is really hard!

It's hard to get all the lums in one go, yes. I wouldn't say it's really hard though…

Think I've a long way to go before I make it that far. I'm only at the part where I found out the name of the cave "cave of bad dreams"

Ah, yes. Rayman 2. The best Rayman game ever made. I love it! Especially Rayman Revolution. People might be saying that the Dreamcast version is the definitive version, I don't think it is. It's definitely Rayman Revolution because it adds a lot more levels, three minigames, three hub worlds, and most importantly, challenges. The challenges for example are really fun! I love them all! You should definitely go for Rayman Revolution if you want the definitive way to play the game.

Oh, and sorry for the long comment. :?

At the risk of sounding a bit snobby, your comments are barely medium sized. Take a look at some of the debates that happened in the run up to Origins and Legends, now those are some word walls.

Either ways, it's nothing to be ashamed of, if it makes for interesting discussion, then by all means.
