Either ways, it's nothing to be ashamed of, if it makes for interesting discussion, then by all means.
Well, yeah, you're right. :)

I'll give the PS2 Revolution a try after I finish the dreamcast version then sure why not. The more Rayman games to play the merrier :)

Seems like a really good game anyway so I'll have no problem playing it again on PS2

I got to admit, missing some of the lums in the chair ride section tend to piss me off. In fact, after missing one of the them, it was too late to hit into something to respawn to before the lum I missed. I was so angry I died on purpose in the next section by getting crushed repeatedly by the rolling barrels and prayed that the game sends me back to the beginning BUT no....... of course it didn't.

I'm something, Aren't I?...

But the good thing is: As I kept playing the game again and again.
I can actually collect every single lum in that section in one go. :D

Also, I usually like to pull off the keg-less flight glitch in the Tomb of Ancients for fun or warp through to other areas of the level section.

I know when I get to that part I'm going to be exactly the same. I kept doing it in origins and legends when I missed Lums. In origins I had to kill myself but in legends it lets you press restart sequence.

I even done it there in the cave when I missed two Lums sliding past them.

Missing Lums drives you crazy :oops2:

Nonono, nobody ever said there was a rule against that! And yeah, what Master said.

I feel so bad at this game like it took me about half an hour to get past the part where you tame the walking bomb. I kept hitting the rocks and exploding

Such a good game that I could have played 18 years ago but saved it for now :)

That's pretty handy! I remember using similar software back in the days because the original Xbox controllers were just way too bulky. Such great memories playing all those games when I couldn't even afford the console! 'Twas a tad slow, but who cared back then?

The only problem was key mapping. For some reason, I had to use another key mapping software on top, which I had to switch off when I was done playing or else it would mess up my typing. Unfortunately, I once forgot to disable it after playing for a few hours on my dad's computer (I wasn't allowed to use that one), and when he got back he found that all the keys were mixed up and he ordered a new keyboard. That took a while. Of course, the problem persisted, and he called a friend for help. When his friend found about the key mapping software, my dad stayed put, waited for his friend to leave, and then he took me to the garage and beat the living shit out of me with a set of jumper cables.
Holy shit, your dad does not look like a cool guy . I get it it's annoying but it just a kid mistake you did not deserved such a bad treatment.

Just got an RGB scart for my dreamcast to replace the terrible composite I was using. The difference is literally night and day. I think I'll enjoy the rest of this game now even more :)

I'm not still on the first level by the way I just went back there to compare

Wow, that really does look better!

The top of the screen seems to be cut a bit – you could adjust it in Options.

That's what the good old service menu is good for (that only TV repairmen should be accessing) :)

This looks better

Also the water even looks blue on the RGB but was grey on composite. There was a flickering band at the top of the screen also that seems to affect a lot of Dreamcast consoles on composite video but some don't have it.

Edit: So I just tried the NTSC PS2 version of this game and although it's not 60fps like the dreamcast, it's a lot more pleasing to the eye at 30fps vs the PAL 25fps version. That 5fps actually makes a huge difference at least in Rayman anyway.

Nice :)
Glad you got it fixed.

Thanks for the kind words, buddy! My dad wasn't exactly the coolest dad, but in his defense, things like that only happened when I fucked up big time. For smaller offenses he would just use his belt instead.

About all the different version, I have to say I always played the PC version. Then one year I got Revolution for my birthday (my father wasn't aware that it was basically Rayman 2) and I loved it. I will always think that the PS2 version is the best one. The big hub with Teensie circles was so awesome! Unfortunately I sold it for some reason, and I regret it SO MUCH. I had 999 freaking lums and didn't know how to get the last one! It was the 1000th lum in the Tomb of the Ancients that I was missing

After looking at them all the PS2 version seems so unique and looks a lot brighter (more vibrant etc.) than the Dreamcast. I'll likely replay it on the PS2 and I think I'll actually just play it on the PS2 console itself. I always have to reinstall Windows and have a feeling I'll lose my save if I use PCSX2. Also I'm a fan of using the real hardware when possible :)

I like the idea of Revolution but it's really glitchy and I find The Front tedious to get around. I do appreciate the brighter colours and I think it's a bit more like how Rayman's world should look. I guess I could take either Dreamcast or Revolution (despite how gltichy it is) considering the aesthetic and world of Rayman 2 that draws me in a great deal anyway.

Well, I can't really remember how glitchy Revolution was, but I do remember how great added content was (at least compared to the PC version) like the Lum magnet, minigames, Globox's House, etc. and all the cool Globox babies.

Yeah I got it on fleabay for €9 so just have to wait until it arrives. I know I can just emulate it or burn it to a DVD but it's more exciting to have the real game :)

Moving part of a conversation from the Rayman 1 topic here.
Steo wrote:Nice. Chances are I'm never going to play the great escape on PS1 anyway since that and N64 would be the worst versions. Clearly the PC, PS2 and Dreamcast versions are much better. As long as I don't get a platinum disc of Rayman 1 I don't really mind too much :)
I have the PS1 version of Rayman 2, and I do enjoy it. The graphics are indeed heavily downgraded, but there's exclusive stuff like full voice acting (including the guardians of the masks), a different battle of the Grolgoth and the playable prototype level of the cancelled 2D version of Rayman 2.
