< found a workaround:

< says that they won't. Change.org doesn't do shit and the One Channel petition was ignored. They know people don't like it, but they also know that YouTube is not gonna get any strong competition and that if they completely redesign their site to enforce use of their services and advertise popular channels even more that they can do that. It's not like they have a community that they need to keep pleasing to keep the site stable.

< woke up surprisingly early despite going to bed late last night. But < doesn't really mind, more time to be spend on Saturday! :o

Indeed, what ^ says is true, there's no reason to alleviate our needs if they have dominance, as everyone's going to use them regardless.
Meh, < is adjusting to the way things are now, to <'s distaste.

< Doesn't even read the comments for popular video's because they are just such a mess. There's all these +Username and #Hashtag things going around and then there are these long reply sections and "Blurdurr123 shared this via Google+" notifications and I don't know. It looks like they were trying to make something but then it glitched out and they didn't know how to fix it so they just slapped the name of an unpopular product on it.

Meh, and according to Kotaku, the supposed justification for the service is pretty much moot. < won't link to it here, as it does have NFSW content in there, but < is definitely not feeling it with this new service.
