Differences has been found :
Adrian_ wrote:Hi guys,
as some of you may already know, there is a late prototype of Rayman 2 for Dreamcast. I just finished playing it and wanted to share my experience.
I was looking for differences in levels design and I didn't find any, however I found some small differences:
- Different crystal locations - at least in Fairy Glade, it's not at the bottom before entering the area with air currents, but at the top near the exit
- There is some problem with the camera (but it may be in the final version as well, I just don't remember) - for example in Whale Bay if you keep swimming without any break, after some time the camera will get faster than you
- The 1000 lum and the secret corridor in Tomb of the Ancients are accessible, the lum isn't counted and the total amount still says 999 and 99.9% of the game is finished
- After defeating Razorbeard, when there's the end of credits the game is stuck - there is no way to go back to main menu.
ApCent_2018-04-04_18-51-59.png
- Globox Village is emptier - comparing with Haruka gameplay on youtube there's just a few baby Globoxes,
- Disk minigame doesn't contain the intro which is present in the final release,
- When you exit some of the minigames, it takes you back to the main menu instead of going back to Globox Village.
I'm wondering if there is something interesting left in files which could be undiscovered yet. Someone in here said that there are some differences in the level and texture files. I would appreciate if somebody with the right knowledge and tools looked into it
And also - hello! A long time reader, but I wasn't posting since English is not my native language. I hope there's something more to discover about Rayman 2

Interesting! Seemingly most of the differences are on the Dreamcast-exclusive things, which I guess is to be expected.
Who is this Adrian guy? Has he an account here?

Oh yeah I forgot I had seen that post. To be honest though I doubt you'll find any interesting files in it that weren't left in the main release. I guess it's worth a try but I doubt it.

0:30 Rayman flying to a ballon is probably a short animation. A lot of such has been created in Rayman 1-2 times (it's mostly Rayman shooting with fist etc.)
0:14-0:16 and 0:31 Rayman on console/computer and Rayman "creation" in numbers are from Rayman Gold Commercial from 1997. It's good to mention that both commercials use probably the same font.
Rayman on the fallen tree with dynamite or punchbag is partly shown in Rayman platinum version commercial (1997). Dynamit is covered by the PlayStation logo.
You can deduce from these commercials:
Rayman sees something in the forest. Dynamit jumps at Rayman. Rayman is falling. Rayman is trying to get up. After getting up, he falls again.
It would be nice to see full animation of this someday.

Nice! I'm pretty sure I've seen that Prison Ship one before all right, but the others are interesting. I hadn't thought about it before, but that platform at the beginning of the Cave does make more sense when it's slidey!

Haruka has it on the channel.
There is one video more
It's strange because I can't find these videos on IGN portal even in "search".
Rayman in this build jump so bad compared to the final release.
But this ramp in The Cave of Bad Dreams was a pretty cool idea.

Definitely can be said that this place has Canopy design.

Nice beta videos! Really, I love seeing these type of vids, thanks for sharing. In one of them Rayman does an animation when he stops running (brake or skid, I'm not sure how to call it) like in Rayman 1, maybe there was a button to run? Or that animation happened when you were running and suddenly stopped. And yes, it looks like the Canopy to me too.

I found a new easter egg in the Dreamcast and 3DS versions of Rayman 2!
It's located in the first section of the Sanctuary of Water and Ice and can be triggered by shooting on the big door multiple times. After the message appeared, you will obtain full life and power fist.
I discovered five others easter eggs (you can have all of them in the Dreamcast and 3DS versions but only two in the other versions) in the Iron Mountains, these ones can be triggered during the balloon cutscene (these easter eggs don't do anything except showing text) :
During the cutscene press multiple times the Left Trigger until one of these messages appears (they are chosen randomly).
I also tested the "Cigale and Ritchy's secret place" and the only way to obtain it is a bit tricky: You have to pass the first door of the level without using the switch. Once it's done, continue the level normally (by activating the next three switches) and go the 1000th lums secret area.

Nice find. So many easter eggs have been found in this game. I wonder if there is more.

This is pretty cool. All these Easter eggs that have been undiscovered for so long. I wonder did the devs expect someone to discover these eventually

Interesting Easter Eggs, apparently, there more secret text in the Dreamcast and 3DS version (and probably more that still need to be discovered). Also the five others Easter Eggs are based on Duke Nukem.
Ganesh huh? Obviously yet another in the style of Gauntlet and the others. Amazing it took this long to discover! (Also isn't Ganesha the city that's been showcased in the BG&E2 promo material? Funny coincidence)
So you say two of those balloon ones work in the PC version too? That explains at least some of the miscellaneous "unused" text that I may or may not have erased to make room for my Irish translation.
Eggs like this make me think that maybe all of that text can be made to appear. Like "I Want the Treasure/No Treasure for Me/THE DREAM TEAM". That must be an Easter Egg!
Oh yes, and welcome! I've seen you around before but apparently this is your first post!
