Actually, for music computers, XP is generally better, since it's more than sufficient to run the programs you want and the higher versions of Windows only add more and more stuff to your computer you don't need in the first place (for that purpose). This makes running XP more efficient, even if it's severely outdated as an operating system.
For all other intents and purposes, yes, upgrading is probably a good idea.
< is waiting for the guys over at Epic to add payment options other than credit cards so < can throw some money at them for the UnrealEngine 4. < has watched so many videos about it already, < feels <'s ready to dive right in and get busy creating something funky. x)

It's all fine if all you use it for is music, which means it needn't have any Internet connection.

Oh okay. < is an Apple fan, < has a Mac mini, an iPad 4, and an iPhone 5s.

< only has a 1st gen Nano that has lasted a good 8/9 years (Christ that long) with the battery only needing changed once, < will at least give Apple credit for that

Yeah, Apple products do last long. <’s all Apple products still work.
