Because the source code of that version uses an older and more hard to understand engine.

Davide Soliani, the creative director at Ubisoft Milan, who also happened to work on Rayman for the Game Boy Color, recently found level design notes and concept art for the game in his garage and published some of it on Twitter:

I've seen the stopwatch one before, but the rest are new finds. I love how expressive he is!

I saw this recently, but I forgot to share it here, thanks for posting the images. That image with the Electoons hidding within clothes makes me think that Mr Dark might have been the original hoodlum .

Are you playing on PS1 or PC?
Whatever, I strongly advice you to use cheatcodes

It's all about memorizing her patterns and precise timing and positioning.

Lovely artwork! Thanks for sharing, hoodlumsworld.

As for Space Mama, you might want to watch a couple gameplay videos to know what to expect (and welcome to this place, by the way!).

First of all, welcome! As for the battle, it's basically all about learning the patterns. I assume you mean the fight with the washing machine? Which part do you have trouble with?

What file format were Rayman 1โ€™s music files in? Just wondering considering how placing the CD-Rom in a CD-Player back in the day would allow you to listen to the soundtrack.

They were in standard CD audio format. The game simply played the track on the CD using standard CD-audio functions provided by MS-DOS/PlayStation/Saturn.

itโ€™s a mixed mode CD โ€“ track 1 is ISO 9660 data while the rest of the tracks are Red Book audio

I think that the DOS version is Red Book audio only.
It does not loop the tracks as well as the other verisons too (and its missing some tracks).

Every version of Rayman 1 (including PC/MS-DOS) is a mixed mode CD, which means track 1 is unplayable.

Don't forget that the PS1 version has extra MIDI tracks that are mixed under the CD audio in certain parts. But otherwise, Fifo is correct.

Not only the PS1 versionโ€”thereโ€™s one other version that has the MIDI sequences. ;)

I wonder why they didnt do a normal Windows release for this game even after spinoffs and expansions for it got released.
Maybe they could have got rid of DOS limitations this way.
