< would think that ^ would enjoy Rayman Origin's music if that's the case, seeing as Jungle Run's music is from Origins.

If ^ doesn't mind < asking, are ^'s exams closer to July, June or May?

^ is quite wrong! Flash is but one of the many tools an artist has at their disposal, but it is a very popular one. < thinks of it as a bit of a crude tool for animation, though, and prefers frame-to-frame animation in a simple editor like GIMP and then composing that together in a movie editor. Flash has its upsides, but it also has its... limitations.

The only headaches < gets are heavy, killing migraines and < thanks the skies < has only experienced two in his lifetime. Owowoowwowoow

Now < is off to eat something and watch Frozen. :D

Aye, < agrees very much. < really isn't fond of how Flash's keyframe animation has become the norm of beginner animators for everything, it's just so shitty and makes the work look like shit.

However, < happens to prefer Flash over Illustrator for even static vector work in general.

Simply put < is stressing over getting her honours project organised for next year, although the main issue here is that < is too scared to come into contact with a supervisor for the project

It does and hearing people's experiences with Flash overall, < thinks its capabilities are lacking severely. It has the tendency to lag out when things get too complicated and, for a professional tool that's supposed to be so all-powerful, < finds that distasteful. Not per se because lagging out is so bad (though in all honesty, it is), but because there are so many other ways to do this work where there are none such problems - it makes the program embarrassing, <'d say.

As a good comparison, <'d say that Flash is like Minecraft. Lots of people devote hours of their life trying to create something that just won't work in Minecraft, because the code is written so poorly. Now, as an avid Minecraft-player and mod-user <'sself, < can understand why - it's a lot of fun when it does work -, but when reaching its sadly clear limits, it becomes obvious that the tool is a waste of creative effort.

That doesn't mean amazing things can't be created with Flash - but things could be so much more amazing if done in something that doesn't limit the artist's vision because it happens to run into the program's boundaries of options.

< feels < is getting overly serious over this. Let's just say < thinks Flash outright sucks. You can be pleased with it, fine, but give < a regular pencil and piece of paper any day of the week.

Though, in terms of vector work, < still thinks that Flash can't really be beat. Animation-wise, ironically its main feature, < completely agrees.

< is not familiar with its vector work. Does ^ mean vector graphics, like in Inkscape?

Yeah, < means working with vectors, creating vector images and logos and whatnot.

Mm. < has tried Inkscape lately because < is interested in making a 3D game but with sprites in it, so it's important their quality doesn't become deprecated when you either zoom in or out too far. < thought vectors would be a good solution, but < is yet to test that theory out. < knows that, for the meantime, vectors look awesome in the program itself, when zooming out to 10% or in to 500% - not as great as ol' pixellated '80s graphics would, of course, but that's nostalgia trip talking.

What does ^ use vectors for? Are they used in RotD at all?

Nothing in particular, usually for things like clipart, logos, and UI design. On that note, CryEngine uses scaleform GUIs/HUDs, so < uses it for that in ROTD as well.

Looks like UE3 used it too. Maybe UE4 does as well, but I can't find anything on the matter.
Actually, <'s going to hop in-Editor to see if it supports SVG files because that would be even more awesome than 'just' exporting a vectorised PNG file (a la Origins).
