Cast, yes. Canon and setting, not really. The Woods of Light is very closely connected to the Dream Forest (mosquitos, dancing mushrooms, etc.), and the Manual mentions Mister Dark's defeat as what ingratiated Rayman to most of the Glade's inhabitants (probably justifying the aforementioned change in cast).

The first time I ever played the Woods of Light, I thought the mosquitoes were going to attack me when they were following me.

I tried that too, I don't think they can be killed. They're just background elements it seems.

I think I figured that out the first time I played after they tried to chase me.

In fairness I was a lot older when I eventually played it, so it makes sense that I figured it out. I still did try run from them at first though since it seemed like they were attacking.

I also tried to hit the Hoodloon in Rayman 3 but never succeeded.

There's only one of those in TSBTC right? It was always in a cutscene and even then I always assumed it was too high for me to hit!
Though, if we could defeat it, I wonder how many points it would have been.

I’ve always been under the impression that Rayman has no real definite age. He’s just sort of an ageless cartoon character.
