I heard it's a nightmare to get the CD version to work on modern computers also.
Not if you copy the files over manually.
I didn't think it would be that simple, I thought it needed a patch to make nglide work also.

You've never heard of the infamous pirate head? How long have you been here?

I didn't know about the giant pirate head, I think (according to my very unreliable memory) that a similar message appeared when you tried to play Rayman 3 (PC) without inserting the CD first, however I don't think it showed any giant head on the screen.

The Tomb of the Ancients is already creepy enough, but imagine if there were Mini-Janos in that level. I'm surprised they didn't add some to it in Revolution.

So why 3ds max 2009 64-bit can't detect ASCII plug-in if I already have it?

Does that also happen with the uplay version? I feel like I MIGHT have read something about it somewhere...

It only happens in the disc version. The DRM was disabled in all digital releases.

That explains why I've never seen it.

Would they really fit in with the death/zombie theme though?

Considering they come out of the ground like zombies and have an undead-like appearance with their skeletal arms, green skin and pose...

Why I can't import any Rayman 2 the great escape PC version level map from unity/RayTwol to 3ds max?

Speaking of Mini-Janos, there are some oddities with two encountered in the PS1 version of The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. For one, they lack the distinctive creaking noise the ones in the Cave of Bad Dreams and the one in the other versions of the level have, instead making a light hopping noise akin to a plum. If you stay close to them, fireballs will shooting from them at you without them even opening their mouths to breathe fire at you, and despite being the fire-breathing type, these ones won't eat you if you get too close, just doing contact damage instead. They also have a different, faster hit animation than the ones in the Cave of Bad Dreams and sound effect when hit, are a slightly brighter tint of green than them, and unlike any of the ones encountered in all the other versions, they move along a set path in the room you fight them in (though they always face Rayman), while the ones in the Cave of Bad Dreams move forward a little, dig into the ground and pop up somewhere else before continuing and the one encounter in the other versions of the level always hides behind one of the stalagmites unless Rayman turn his back to it, at which point it will circle around and try to attack him.

Some mini-Janos in some versions eat you when you get close?

Given that the mini-Janos in the Sanctuary are considered "Monstroplantes" (that's the entity name in the level, at least in the PC version), their sounding like plums and being brighter green makes sense. That fireball business sounds like a copy-paste / refactoring error in the code though...
