< has not heard of them either, but < has a feeling it's not an external device, but a card to be plugged into a computer, < will do the research and see for <self.
<'s hay fever is being an ass, < has been getting the sneezes and the inflamed eyes again.
Hm. < thinks she'll go with the Elgato Game Capture HD device.

< put a lot of research into both, and < personally found the Intensity Shuttle to be infinitely better than Elgato, and would advise it under virtually every circumstance. They're both roughly the same price, but Elgato only supports HDMI in with a breakout cable for composite/component, and only HDMI out, and the video is also compressed to a mediocre MP4 quality; whereas the Shuttle has both composite/component/S-Video/HDMI in and out, and it can also capture either compressed or absolutely crystal-clear, lossless video. The dynamic colour range < also finds to be slightly greater for the Shuttle in side-by-side comparisons.
Additionally, since < knows that ^ does streaming from time to time, Elgato cannot be used for streaming, whereas the Shuttle can. The only extra requirement for the Shuttle is USB 3.0, but most people have that now anyway.
Additionally #2, < fixed <'s problem with not being able to capture at 720/1080p (obviously), it was <'s Windows installation. After < reinstalled Windows, it worked perfectly.

Recorded with Elgato (watch in the highest you can):
It works just fine honestly. When it comes to YouTube, you need render in the highest possible quality, since they compress your video more the lower your resolution is. That's why < upscales to 4K/2160p.
< isn't trying to say Shuffle or Elgato are better than one another, < merely thinks it's down to personal preference or recording needs since getting high quality on YouTube requires upscaling, at least if you want the quality to match the game itself (a game like Mario Kart 8 will always look a little dodgy though even with <'s method, since it is already upscaled to 1080p as is, plus it's pretty fast moving. Using <'s method on native 1080p games looks perfect though, it's like you're actually playing the game). If someone already has an Elgato, there is no need to get a Shuffle.
