< has installed VB 2008 Express and < has coded an advanced, tabbed, notepad in it. It required writing out lots of code.

Ahh, < remembers tinkering with VB last year, < remembers the code breaker skeleton program that < had to work with in the exam. One of the tasks involved was to program in a way to use the Fibonacci sequence, then take that and use it to decrypt a set message, < remembers it being "Help me," or something like that.

Wow, amazing!
VB can sometimes be fun! It's really fun for <!

Meh, < regrets the fact that < stepped off and never moved on, < hasn't done any programming for a year now, < probably has forgotten the basics (heh).

<'s physics teacher showed us how to literally burn a CD inside the microwave today in school  .

Hm, discs are reflective, isn't putting something like that in a microwave dangerous?

< can imagine so, VB is more a learning language, from what < can fathom.

< points out that the B in BASIC stands for Beginners'. < thinks it can be used for fairly powerful things these days though.

Yes indeed. Or you could also try programming directly in Assembler. (Something I've never risked :P)

< had True Basic instead of Visual Basic at High School (similar languages < beleives)
As for C languages < has done C# and C++, and worth noting that < has done Java too, which is based of C#
< mostly uses C# though as it's the one < uses for games

Assembler is too complicated for <.

< recommends being careful with Assembler. One wrong instruction and you could wipe out your hard drive!

< remembers < once did a bit of programming for a PICAXE chip as part of <'s electronics this year, so < guesses it hasn't been as long as < thought. < programmed it in BASIC, if < remembers.

The electronics course < did also included some Assembler code, but < used an emulator for that.

< has used emu8086 and debug.exe for Assembler.

<'s probably wasn't as complex: http://reviseomatic.org/help/2-assemble ... ulator.swf
< does find it quite a bit of a pity that they never taught any programming during <'s Primary and High School years, <'d have prefered that over constant desktop publishing and word processing.

< recommends trying out emu8086. It has a built-in debugger.
