What makes the PC version stand out above the ps2 version? 60fps aside
Let it be known i just now beat the sanctuary of stone and fire using the stupid keyboard controls and i feel physically drained.

The save prompts are what really annoyed me about Revolution. They pop up really often, and take a bit to load.

I disnt like the fps drops and the music NOT replaying when revisiting a level

It really just depends on whether you prefer the original concept, or prefer a hub world where they even changed some level names etc. The low fps annoys me more than most other things in the game, and that save prompt while entering or exiting every single area.
Some of the changes Revolution made are good, but some are also unnecessary in my opinion. Rayman 2 doesn't really have a best version, it really is just more of a personal preference as to which version people prefer.

The one that comes closest to "best" is either PC or DC
Pc only has issues witg running on newer PCS and controllers
Dc has the issue of being on the dreamcast

It's on GoG, which IMO is a much better platform (if only for being DRM-free).

I mean Steam games arent REQUIRED to have drm. Id just like some controller support.

I think there are patches by this very community that improve controller support or at least allow custom keyboard controls.
The default keyboard controls (which cannot be changed in the original Rayman 2) are a bit clumsy, but can be adjusted too without much trouble.

The Rayman Control Panel can change button mapping and add controller support. Rib made a patch to change controller mapping too.

Yeah but im on a mac. I had to use PaulTheTalls porting kit to get rayman 2 to work for me. The keyboard controls do work for me, they just feel a touch cumbersome here n there. But i doubt a patch would be compatible with my os.

How does this porting kit work? If it still uses all original .dll files you should still be able to patch them with the RCP program. You'd have to do it on Windows and copy it over though as it won't run on Mac.

I dunno. I aint much of a tech savvy. Basically i had to buy the game via gog then use the Porting Kit to make it compatible with mac. Its not piracy or anything. The purchased copy is still required.
I dont own a windows, either.

I think, but coupled with the fact I may be upgrading to a newer computer soon anyway, i think it might be less hassle for me to just switch to the ps2 version. Dunno for absolute sure yet tho.

Well, it's definitely too different in terms of content for you to "just switch" like that. It's not the same game at all.

By the way, would The Glade of Dreams in Rayman 2 be considered a tropical island? It is depicted as an island in the official map (as well as the Dreamcast and 3DS versions), and they do seem to be going for more of a Caribbean-style setting with things like the pirates, swamps, more tropical-looking locales and voodoo-ish skulls and undead monsters in it.

It depends, if we are going by definition it shouldn't count as one, or at least we can't know it for sure, since we have no idea if it's in a tropical region in the world of Rayman. Going by the looks of it, sure it might be, it does remind me of something like that.

Who knows if the Glade even has tropics? Its astronomical situation is clearly very different from Earth's – heck, there are two suns!

I think in the English version it said "Bigum Aerum Tornadus Recyclus". I think both are self-deprecating remarks on the part of the developers about the very flaws you mentioned.
True that, though this kind of humor would have been better in Rayman 3.

I've always played the game with a keyboard and I remember having a hard time with the part where you must ride a plum around spots of yellow lava.
