I have Toxic chip.
I tried what you told me and I get black screen and automatically I am in memory card meno. No PSX fix or anything.
This is how menu should look but I dunno how to get this:

Oh, that sucks! But I have another method that might work: Do you know GSM? Graphical Syntheziser Modeselector? You can force your PS2 in other higher resolutions with it. It works for PS1 games too but only on a PS2. You should try that one.

I found main menu, but when I want to change settings, it just says saving settings and it is on that screen forever unless I don't restart. Settings are of course not saved.

Then they must be an issue with your modchip. Also I noticed the PAL PS1 games are not supported via component. Only NTSC! And if I want to enhance the graphics from PAL576i to maybe NTSC480p or PAL576p the console just freezes. NTSC games are only supported!
EDIT: PAL games are supported, but need the skip video fix.

- It's cold and I'm tired and I still have seven hours of school waiting on me. Come closer Friday.
- Mother's got her car back so now she can waste my time with dragging me to places, bleh. She literally manages to make getting a haircut take a full hour longer than my father, why can't I go with him? Maybe this sounds lazy and it probably is but after hours of that same computer screen at school I really just wanna kick back and relax for a while, not immediately leave again. Gonna hope she forgets about it.

I found this:

do you recommend me upgrade it?
The person who asked question has same info like me and same issue. Should I listen to advice?

Definitally! But beware, don't shut down the console while it flashes the bios or you will need another PS2! I will look if there is an update for my modbo too.

I went to that webpage and downloaded newest toxic bios and instructions it says to burn it on disc and follow screen insturctions. So I should just follow screen instructions and NOT shutdown PS2 at all?

- Played Rayman 1 (PS1) up to Moskito's Nest
- It's extremely hard, can't go past Moskito's Nest. It's so hard that I'm threatening to break the disc!

Whoa! Chill out. No need to break the disc over the Dream Forest Level. What will you do when you get to Picture City. Destroy console?

Cool! Which version of the game are you playing? If PS1, could you please give me a save state?
(Assuming you know how to send save states to someone)

- My laptop might be confiscated for a whole month because I'm starting to be sick again like in September. Logic = none.
- No more Christmas present for me, yay.
- Internet might be cut off "until I become a normal girl" because I'm not feeling well. Even less of logic!
- My parents are being shit.
- I hate being sick, they always punish me for it, like as if it was my fault.
