Re: Rayman emulation
I could have shared my Rayman 2 PS1 settings though, but I don't think they differ much from the R1 PS1 setup.
Re: Rayman emulation
I think all PS1 games use same setup anyways. Only difference is that if there is no music in game, R1 tutorial should be applied for that game.

Re: Rayman emulation
That tutorial doesn't just apply to music in general, but specifically to games with CD music. ePSXe is actually one of the worst emulators for games with CDDA music, such as Rayman 1, as it doesn't natively support it, and thus you are forced to use Mooby2, which natively (and poorly) supports CDDA tracks. Anyone who's played Rayman 1 on ePSXe can attest to this. Emulators like XEBRA, mendafen, pSX (though it doesn't work very well with R1), or even PCSX-R (which is basically a clone of ePSXe with additional features), are much better for these types of games.OldClassicGamer wrote:I think all PS1 games use same setup anyways. I want your setup.Haruka wrote:I could have shared my Rayman 2 PS1 settings though, but I don't think they differ much from the R1 PS1 setup.
I use Pete’s OpenGL2 too.Adsolution wrote:Download Pete’s OpenGL2 2.9 and drop it in your ePSXe/plugins folder.

too complicated and still never got Rayman 1 to work with ittechnology4617 wrote:Emulators like XEBRA,

Just tried it out and pretty much it is a ePSXe clone. I was surprised that it can play CDDA audion by default but the sound crackles a lot and I didn't find a solution yet.technology4617 wrote:or even PCSX-R (which is basically a clone of ePSXe with additional features),

Re: Rayman emulation
XEBRA is incredibly easy to use once you set it up and figure out how it operates (admittedly somewhat strangely. It will run every game that doesn't use subchannel data (which R1 doesn't) perfectly. I've thought about uploading an archive with R1 that has the emulator fully set up.emshomar wrote:too complicated and still never got Rayman 1 to work with it
GUIs are your best friend.emshomar wrote:doesn't work on my PC
pSX's a fucking piece of shit. The compatibility rate is terrible, and it is quite buggy. The sound (meaning the actual SFX, not even the music) actually cut out several times when I was playing R1, and the music wouldn't loop at all.emshomar wrote:I used it before and I was really pleased with it. Use Pete's SPU.emshomar wrote:Just tried it out and pretty much it is a ePSXe clone. I was surprised that it can play CDDA audion by default but the sound crackles a lot and I didn't find a solution yet.

We are in the year 2014 and there is still no 100% accurate emulator for a 20 years old console god dammit! And I can't just record from my PS2 because my capture card can't record 240p via Component.

There is, but you haven't tried them out yet.emshomar wrote:We are in the year 2014 and there is still no 100% accurate emulator for a 20 years old console god dammit! And I can't just record from my PS2 because my capture card can't record 240p via Component.

Re: Rayman emulation
XEBRA? bhoho, i tryed it but I really dislike complicated emus. Kega Fusion for example is the best emulator for my taste but unfortunatelly it emulates only Sega consoles besides SS and DC.
Re: Rayman emulation
Ah yes, good ol' KEGA. More emulators should be like that.

Re: Rayman emulation
It's still 100% compatible with pretty much all games, except for about three that use subchannel data. mendafen I haven't tried yet, but that was the other one I was talking about, which I've heard has an even higher compatibility rate than XEBRA. But it only added compatibility with PS1 games recently, so I dunno.emshomar wrote:XEBRA? bhoho, i tryed it but I really dislike complicated emus..
But, eh, after calming down from my nerd rage, I can understand why some people like ePSXe due to the high feature set, but, in that case, why not just use PCSX-R? It's more actively developed and has all of the features ePSXe has and more.
EDIT: Tried out mendafen and, while it's accurate (the sound and speed are definitely improved over XEBRA's), it's a real pain in the ass to use, and unlike with XEBRA, you can't run it at any resolution, and it will simply default to your monitor's resolution, while running a lower-resolution window within. It also lacks basic features such as save states, which even fucking XEBRA has. It's a very accurate emulator, but it gives me too much of a migrane when I use it.
Re: Rayman emulation
Haruka, I’m still waiting for your Rayman 2 PS1 config.
Re: Rayman emulation
Config for R2 PS1 for ePSXe is deafult one. You don't change anything like for R1 PS1.
Re: Rayman emulation
But I want the loading transitions to show up, which won’t show up on the default config.OldClassicGamer wrote:Config for R2 PS1 for ePSXe is deafult one. You don't change anything like for R1 PS1.
Re: Rayman emulation
Try to use the same setup I use for my Rayman 1 emulation.
Re: Rayman emulation
Thank you! It works now! The loading screens are showing up properly.Haruka wrote:Try to use the same setup I use for my Rayman 1 emulation.
Re: Rayman emulation
If TFD's setup shows up anomalies I think it should be replaced by mine.
Re: Rayman emulation
Your config works way better Haruka
Re: Rayman emulation
That’s why I wanted it.OldClassicGamer wrote:Your config works way better Haruka
Re: Rayman emulation
I thought before it was deafult one but I guess I was mistaking.
Well, I did not use TFD's one and always had it configured for R1 and never changed it
