I concur, Crash Road was a pain attempting to get both the crystal and gem in one trip, which I hate in going back in levels like that just to get a gem/relic. Those motorcycle levels were basically the same darn level, just a different part of day with some more bottomless pits and boxes.

Agreed. Although Wizards and Lizards was pretty good, it had a combination of the snow chases from Cortex Strikes Back, with the medieval aspect of Warped, though this time it was inside instead of outside like Warped.

And where else though do you want Crash to go? Mars to spin off machine rovers and aliens with 10 eyes humping on Nitro boxes? A Cortex lair with shooting machine guns? What about on a deserted beach in daytime with a woman with nice, big, bags of ice for his head? (sorry had to go there). :fou:

Though now that I think of it, the PS2 graphic enhancement is what fooled me a bit on the ripoff of Warped, played the first 10 levels of WoC earlier and there's already too much of using a vehicle/flying thing. And personally, and I'm not trying to be sexist here, but I think the Coco levels are boring. They tried to have a level or two of her not using something to ride on, but they couldn't resist like her first level only. It's not the same excitement as it is playing Crash, since he can have more powers than Coco, and don't need a fricking scooter to avoid a gigantic wave. Heck, Crash avoided from a rolling stone, a big snowball, an angry polar bear, and a dragon using his running shoes.

I just rewatched the remake intro, and I noticed a small continuity error. Look at the lever that Cortex uses to activate the Cortex Vortex, he pulls it down when Crash is being lifted into the device. But when it cuts back to Cortex as he declares failure, the lever is back up.

Meaningless observation, I know. But it was interesting.

Speculation here, but let's say that N-Sane Trilogy sells well enough, and then there would be a new Crash game. In what Crash era are they going to base it on? Personally, I prefer CSB through WoC kind of games. The collecting the 25 crystals and the 42 gems has always been my favorite part of playing the earlier Crash games. Course, they could go out of the box and have the plot and objectives completely different, but CSB through WoC were the games in Crash's prime, and they should base it on that.

I'm agreed that the CSB formula is where Crash thrived, however, I disagree when it comes to sticking to it. By having the N Sane Trilogy, we get the best of the formula shown in action, making another game with the exact same framework would be kinda tiresome. Vicarious Visions has quite a bit experience with Crash already, and will have a far more initmate experience with the Crash series with the completion of N Sane trilogy, as such, it's probable that they'll be the best suited studio to take the series forward at this point.

I liked TwinSanity because Traveller's Tales were willing to stick with the basic gameplay principles of the Crash series, but also attempted to shake it up to try and bring a new sort of Crash experience. That being said, I don't expect Vicarious Visions to make a TwinSanity 2, nor do I want them to. What I do want is for them to take what they've learned and try and break beyond the original Naughty Dog formulae and try to give a familiar but refreshed idea for the franchise, as Traveller's Tales attempted. Obviously though, I don't want them to simply chuck out the original formula and do something completely different, as the Titan's series did.

True, I'm just a sucker when it comes to the earlier Crash games.

About the potential new game, it would be interesting to see a combination of Twinsanty and CSB/Warped. Make the game free roaming, while retaining the gameplay of CSB/Warped, though making the crystals and gems more of an optional task but having to collect them in order to finish 100%, like getting all gems in the first Crash game.

Crash needs its core gameplay from the classic games in future installments. Mario is so successful because it sticks with the gameplay that people know and love, but innovates and create interesting level designs and gimmicks around the classic Mario move set. Titans was a failure as it dropped what made Crash, well, Crash. The tight platforming mechanics and moveset we knew and loved were amended in favour of a new gameplay style. They could have still had the titan concept, but at the same time retain the classic Crash formula when he's on the ground. I doubt they will make this mistake again.

Nipped it in the bud, Bzzit. Yeah, having a basic formula is important, as they tend be part of the iconic appeal of franchises. But being able to take that formula and apply different spins to it is what gives them longevity. Mario is a pretty good example of that, as he's had many tweaks and variations over his 30 years, but hasn't really strayed far from the basic ideas which his franchise is known for.

That sounds pretty promising, and it would be a natural evolution of what Crash has been doing. In fact, it sounds a bit like the original Jak and Daxter in some regards, rather fitting given that it succeeded the Crash franchise in some ways.

Yeah, it would be the best way to go if the Crash franchise wants to stay revived for a few more years after N-Sane Trilogy. Of course, Vicarious Visions may not want to go that route, but to appeal to both new and older crowds of Crash, combining the 90s style, Twinsanty, and with the modern twist can really be an awesome game.

I would also love for a level designer tool for the future, that would be tremendous and addicting. Most likely never going to happen, but it would put it over the top.

Bump. I've been reading several rumors about the release date of N-Sane Trilogy. Some website have been putting it on Feb. 28, and others say around June 30th. I would think a more proper date would be sometime in late July or August. Since it's not just Crash 1, it's CSB and Warped.

I'm taking those rumours with a pinch of salt for now. We've not seen anything else really since the reveal, I'd think there'd be a few more reveals before they release.

I want to see what the Warp Rooms look like, they always felt very distinctive. I wonder if they'll keep that level transition animation that Warped had.

I have to say my favorite part has to be Crash himself; those facial animations are amazing!

There seems to be a bit of a back and forward on whether the N-Sane trilogy will be PS4 exclusive or simply a timed exclusive. Personally, I'd like it to be the latter, while it's true Crash owes a lot to Sony, I feel that Crash needs as much exposure as possible. I want N-Sane Trilogy to kickstart a Crash revival, and not just be a nostalgic rerun.
