I'm not exactly sure what a "Digital Press Kit" is, if anybody could explain.

Well I do know a digital press kit would in this case be a disk containing whatever a journalist would need to properly cover the game in an article. However I’d like to know what such information was present on the disk specifically. Perhaps some concept art? Maybe some information regarding earlier builds that might have been changed. Such things would be interesting to me even if that info is out on the internet by now. Actually owning the original would just be a fun novelty.

I didn't know that in the press kit the enemies in Rayman 2 were described as "an intergalactic circus" (besides in the interview it is mentioned that the pirates intended to sell the captured inhabitants to an inter-galactic circus), that would explain why Razorbeard was working for Rigatoni in the TV series. I always thought that Razorbeard's role in the TV series was due to an unusual creative decision, but it seems that the circus theme was always part of the original concept for the character.

So did anyone here actually bid on the kit? Or did it just slip away?

I bid $40 even though I knew that wouldn't win

The winning bid was around $60 I believe.

This is actually really interesting. I was cleaning out my garage the other day and I found the back of the case for my original copy of Rayman 2 (My dad bought it in 2000 I believe, and passed it down to me when I was super young). At this point I've never heard of the "Intergalactic Circus" plotline, but wouldn't you know it, it actually says it on the case! I looked up tons of renditions of Rayman 2 cases afterwards and I couldn't find a smidge of information about the circus. If anyone's interested I can attach a photo of it, it'd just take me a minute to dig it up out of my stuff
But I wonder.. since the "intergalactic circus" is mentioned on the case of the final release of the game, could it potentially be canon, even a little bit? Maybe there's some truth to that "abandoned" plotline...

I would be great to see that. I checked my old Rayman 2 spanish cases (PC version) and even though there is a mention of "selling slaves", there is no mention of any kind of circus.
Edit: I found a mention of an intergalactic circus in
this magazine scan.

I spoke with my dad and he said he bought it in the “New Releases” section. So this is one of the first releases of the game.
“Rayman strikes back!
Pirates have invaded Rayman’s world to seize its unique creatures and sell them to an inter-galactic circus. Our mighty hero, Rayman, has been captured and stripped of his powers. Rayman escapes and embarks on a dangerous mission to return to his conquered world where he must rescue all his imprisoned friends...”
There’s a couple more interesting things about this case. First of all, you can see that press screenshot of Rayman and Jano. Secondly, in the Iron Mountains where you’d usually see Uglette, it’s Globox instead. In that same picture, Rayman’s health bar seems to be at its minimum length, which by that point should have grown a little bit.

I've never heard of the "intergalactic circus" in any post-release material, so that's pretty significant!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the image! Since this was one of the first back covers to be made, it makes sense that some of the information and images were not updated. I'm surprised to see that the Zombie Chicken is with the "good guys"

.

Woah, I didn't even notice that detail!

And even though it's likely that this information is still wrong and was put there by mistake, I still like to think in the back of my head that it's somewhat canon

Well, the Zombie Chickens (as well as Globox, Ly and the Teensies) were impacted negatively by the actions of the Robo-Pirates and are not allied with them, however because they've been corrupted, they also attack Rayman.

While I was creating the Spanish version of the list of quotes in
Rayman 2, in the Dreamcast localisation I discovered a scrapped character called Zikox. As his name suggest, he's (possibly) a baby Globox and he is a music fan. There is a quote of him which he says before he introduce himself:
I groove and swing! On the disk you ain't got a chance!
And there's another quote about him introducing himself:
Zikox, prince of the disk. With me, there's no risk!
There is also a text where Zikox says the Pyralums record. It's known that Zikox was going to appear in the Globox village.

I wonder if there is a way to confirm that the yellow one is named Zikox. Also, when he says "the disk", I assume he is referring to the Globox Disc minigame.

i got the game today and played it for the firts time! got the first mask so im done for now. so far i think i still like r3 more but it was still enjoyable
does the game randomly speed up for a while for no reason for anyone else?? it makes it kinda hard to control which isnt really fun
