Hm, is it still being sold brand new? I'd have thought it'd been relegated to the shelves of second-handidness, where devs don't get any money for it anyways.

The exact same thing happened to me once when playing Sonic 4 Episode 1 in Dolphin. The save state randomly corrupted and I lost all my hard work. I have never actually bothered to play again, despite the fact that I now properly own the PC version now and would get a much less laggy experiance.
