I was trying to do what I seen speed runners do where they air swim for the fun of it, but it just had the opposite effect and I walked under water instead.

Oh wow!
You really can't get out from there can you? Unless you run out of air or something (if that even exists in that state).

You can get out if you jump in a certain spot since I done it the other day.

So it can be done!
I wonder if this glitch would work in other areas where you can swim, such as Whale Bay.

It mainly just seems to work because of a glitch with the corner of a platform in the Fairy Glade, but I'm not too sure about other areas. The speedrunners know a lot of tricks.

This scene looks terrible on ps2. Weird water textures

I never bothered looking at this scene in Revolution, but is it just me or is this scene brighter than it normally looks under normal luminoscity?

Yep this is how it looks in most versions
Odd detail I noticed about Rayman’s eyes between the N64 and Dreamcast versions.

I’m curious the exact reasons were behind why the PS1 port of Rayman 2 had to have so much content cut or altered, while the PC and Dreamcast version were near 1:1 ports of the original N64 version. Like what is it about the way the game is built and how Playstation Hardware functions that complicated the process.
Well, the PlayStation is a much weaker console, but that shouldn't matter regarding disk space? Not sure, really.

The only kind like that would happen if you were stupid enough to let a pirate drill right under you.
True Rayman 2 nightmare fuel.

I wonder if that telefragging was intentional on the part of the devs, or if they actually intended it to be a single-hit-point loss like falling into poison/piranha water. I get the feeling it was under-tested, like that bizarre situation that occurs if you try to go backwards on the shell in Menhir Hills 2…
Yeah, it could very well be unintended. Maybe someone with good knowledge of Rayman 2 mechanics could actually find out.

My best guess is, the ps1 was too weak/some levels were too hard to implement+ they wanted it to feel different
Like the top of the world, i dont think many people like this level
And its gone
Though why most of the tomb of the anchients got cut is beond me
I doubt its the hardware - look at other PS1 games like the Spyro series , Soul Reaver and Urban Chaos.
Even then I think they could have had all the levels intact if they compromised with the draw distance.
But I think someone speculated that the PS1 version used an earlier build then the N64 version and thats why some content got cut/altered.

Thankfully those kinds of pirates only drill in certain areas and there aren’t a lot of them in the game anyway. I know they show up in N64, Dreamcast, and PC, but I can’t remember if they show up in either of the two PlayStation versions...

I only remember the one at the beginning of the Sanctuary of Water and Ice.

Yeah I remember that one and 1-2 in the Iron Mountains. The Water and Ice one wasn’t there in Revolution and I know at least one in the Iron Mountains was absent in the PS1 version.

The PS1 was surprisingly weaker than the N64, though you wouldn't have thought that since PS1 had CDs while N64 still used cartridges. The downside with the cartridges was the limited memory, which explains why soundtracks in those games were synthesised.

Well the ps1 was a 32 bit system
While n64 was well 64
And ps1 was just a lot less powerfull, probably on purpose, i mean look at the waggle textures

It did have the advantage of using discs for storage though. You wouldn't have thought that the N64 was more powerful though just based on CDs vs cartridges.

True. My guess is Ubisoft Shanghai weren’t very well versed in how Playstation Hardware worked, unlike teams like Naughty Dog and Insomniac.

Well every other version of Rayman 2 could run at at least 480i aside from PS1 which was 240p.

Even the N64 version?

Yeah N64 can do this if you have the RAM expansion. It runs pretty terribly though, but it's still able to do it. There's a resolution option in the menu that you can only increase if you have the RAM expansion installed.
