The whole game just feels super empty, it's honestly kind of eerie.
Thats cuz you’re in Betilla’s Garden! Experience the rest of the game! :P

I mean, the maps are usually so packed with stuff that they had to disable running to make sure you don't skip bits. So yeah, empty it ain't, really :hap:

It's not really the level design, it's the vibe of the game, I guess a better word for it would be lonely.

Interesting. Would you not find Rayman 1 lonelier? I mean, in Junior you have the Magician's hat guiding you in every single map, and he appears in person along with Betilla to introduce each level…

Maybe it's because it's a relatively obscure title compared to R1, also the worlds feel pretty basic and repetitive, they don't feel lived in.

I wonder if you are thinking this bc of the lack of friends, electoon cages or bosses to be found in this game compared to the original. Though if we think about that would make the GBC games of R1 and R2 the loneliest, would you not think so?

Also each level has a particular emphasis on a certain object/ability and its en educational game so the repetitiveness within phases in a level probably would make sense

This is pretty spot on, and yes I do think R1 GBC is a very lonely game

Now that I look at these replies I feel like none of Rayman 1 spin-offs worth my attention at all...
Maybe I shouldn't be touching them?.. :oops2:

Alright, I guess I forgot about the PS1 specifically having it, I knew the Jaguar version didn't. At this point, I've only played the MS-DOS, Saturn, and the Jaguar version of the game, despite having it on the PS1 as well.

Rayman Junior is worth playing imo. But then it was my first platformer ever, so it's got a lot of nostalgia for me :oops2:

OHHHH! I thought you were condemning it (and other spin-offs too). I guess it was just me thinking about such things hehe
I'm kinda addictive to others' opinions but not as much as I used to back in 2023-2024, I try to work on this kind of trait.

I hope Rayman loves Glade Plum Pies <3

Designer is really good too, though probably even lonelier by lyndo's standards :oops2:

By His Fans is rubbish though, there was basically no quality control on the levels that fans submitted for inclusion :hap:

I would highly recommend Rayman Designer as well! The built-in levels there are really fun, and use some new mechanics.

I think Rayman Activity Center is worth mentioning too, it's really goofy and cute at the same time, and the minigames are fun.

It can be a pain to set it up if you don't have a Windows 95/98 tho...

I'm planning on installing it, it's ISO format. But I'll figure things out with the YouTube and Google power hehehe :hinhinhin: :mryellow:

Oh, noice. :hap:
If there's something i can tell you about it, as a quick heads up: the game doesn't run properly in Win 10/11, and because of that, you will need a VM that runs Win 95/98 (86box to be more exact) to be able to run it :oops2:

Hmm okay, I can handle this, that's for sure. I might delay this though, I have Rayman 3 undone

After checking, the PS1 does have the fog, but the Saturn release doesn't, as I just saw in a playthrough!
However, the Saturn port had many extra effects the other versions didn't have, like the lighting effects added to Mr Dark's fight and the stained glass shattering when defeating Mr Dark's hybrids (similarly to what's seen in Redemption)! :mryellow:
If only my SEGA Saturn still worked... :nostalgic: :ouin:

Ah, well in that case, I guess I misremembered that one and saw the PS1 version some place else.
