I didn't realise that there were still people on here really confused about this prequel vs sequel thing. I thought we had this sorted ages ago. I guess not
EDIT: Wheee, i started a new page! Yay or something?

Their behaviours? What do you mean? With the recent changes, there's nothing in this game that makes rayman an idiot... even the pervert joke with rayman blowing betilla's skirt was scrapped. Actually, the new intro resembles the rayman that we all know and love: lazy as f*ck. If you mean that he and his friend globox hurt each other for fun, well, that's just part of the gameplay. Luigi doesn't complain when mario jumps on his head in NSMBWii, and that doesn't make him an idiot. I think the catchphrase "Meet the new Crazy" is for promotional purposes, because people love more crazy heroes than neutral heroes.
P.D: Guys, just face it, this game is NOT a prequel, I watched the whole walkthrough and there's no way that this game is a prequel. The prequel concept was scrapped during the development.

Spiral now explained better the thing.
Remember also that I didn't read any spoilers yet.

Well that kind of defeats the 'Origins' part of the name then. Quite strange. As opposed to a prequel, this is an in-betweenquel.
EDIT:
Reminds me of Star Wars when The Clone Wars was introduced...

Well, in a way it doesn't, the game retains it's Origins moniker mainly because of it's "return to form," and the fact it "goes back to the series roots" hence, it's Origins.

I had already accepted the prequel thing, It's more Globox who confuses me, his personality is quite different to his typical cowardly nature, but I digress, besides that one niggle and
Mr. Dark I think I'm A OK with Origins in terms of it's story and continuity.

He's talking about 2d platforming basically, and the return of Michel Ancel (creator), who hasn't worked on a Rayman game since Rayman 2. So yeah, the game is coming back to it's origins.

Plus (correct me if I'm wrong), you can find out about some of the character's origins (or at least more about them) by talking to Polokus with them selected as the player.
But yeah, I think the name sort of stuck ever since they introduced it as an episodic prequel, and they never changed it (plus that would be weird for those following the game)

I can show you photos next week of the Collector's Edition content. But after that, don't get surprised if my activity level is slightly reduced.

I think Origins is the sequel to the first game. Ancel's comment where he says that Origins is the 'proper sequel' makes it sound as though he didn't think that Rayman 2 was a proper sequel to Rayman 1, which it wasn't. Yes, it may have been a good game (as much as I disliked Rayman in 3D) but it showed no visible connection to the first game and failed to explain where all the elements and characters from the first game had disappeared to. Perhaps if Ubisoft had pulled their finger out and actually delivered the promised 2D Rayman 2, then the transition between the first and second games would have surely been a lot more cohesive. Anyway, it makes more sense for Origins to be the sequel to the first game.
As for Rayman's appearance? He has grown a little older since Rayman 1 but this game is set shortly before Rayman 2, hence why he already knows Globox at the start of Rayman 2.

Same here, though I'll have to see if my brother will let me borrow his phone, the camera is better.

I'll most defiantly be doing a unboxing video of the collectors edition and whatever goodies come in the gift pack when I get it, much like I did
for the Sonic Generations one.

Nope, Rayman 3 is before Rayman Origins, judging from Murfy's line "See you in Rayman 4!". If not for that line, there is no proof that Rayman 3 is before or after RO.

No, no, that can't be true. After Rayman 2, the Heart of the World is back together and as such, there should be no more Yellow Lums floating around. Not that them being around in Origins is so logical though, since the Pirates broke the Heart... hmm... weak point.
Anyway, I still really don't understand where the Dark Teensie fits in if this game takes place after Rayman 1. I'm accepting the fact that it
does take place after R1; but I just don't understand
how it does.
Unless... [
the Dark Teensie isn't Mr. Dark but is yet another villain]?!

Perhaps 1000 lums make up the heart, but there are more than just the 1000.

Read spiral's post and my own explanation of this on the previous page.
Also, [
IF Teensoudini is the Mr Dark from Rayman 1, it's possible because Mr Dark wasn't defeated in R1. He just flees. I think (and an early version of the script states this) that Teensoudini is not the Mr Dark from Rayman 1, he just looked up to him, he wanted to be like him.]

Is it me, or does this track sound somewhat familiar to a Rayman 2 song?

Dude, Ancel was obviously talking about the Raving Rabbids franchise, which was created accidentaly during the development of the real Rayman 4. He was saying that Rayman Raving Rabbids was an improper sequel.
I don't know if this serves, but the lums in this game are just called Lums, not yellow lums. They turn into red lums when they're happy. Also, they multiplied a lot with the years. Maybe a new species of lums was created. It's not impossible. The bubble dreamer can do anything accidentaly while he sleeps.
Why are you so insistent on the prequel concept, guys? No, Rayman Origins isn't a prequel to rayman 3, and it's absolutely stupid to discuss about it, since rayman 3 doesn't have anything on it's plot that affects the chronology of the game, it's just rayman helping globox to get to the doctor.

People are puzzled about Rayman's personality. In the beginning he's rather heroic, then a bit arrogant, and then jolly dude that is champion at snoring and eating?
