By His Fans is rubbish though, there was basically no quality control on the levels that fans submitted for inclusion
Well, what do you do when you plan to select the best 40 levels, and you only get like 25 submissions total?
You add the same level 7 times with minor variations, and then you do it again.

Designer is really good too, though probably even lonelier by lyndo's standards

BHF might actually be the worst Rayman game, it's absolutely dreadful.

Yeah, I'm guessing it was something like that I think the competition was carried out on site though, because the level templates aren't the same ones that shipped in the retail Rayman Designer. There's one Mountain level from Rayman Junior that shows up several times, just with a different name and different objects each time

All of this reminds me that I have yet to play By His Fans for a YouTube playthrough, as I kind of promised to show all of Rayman Forever ever since I recorded the first game in 2019 and then Designer a few later... And boy, am I not looking forward to this, seeing all of the usual comments on that game! (And I'll have to play it at least twice for the sake of practice so my videos don't end up being unwatchable garbage, ooh joyyyyy! )

I think there's only one really - in Image Level 6 - titled Don't Despair. A somewhat ironic name for the level, don't you think?

Yeah, that's what I thought but I was too lazy to go back and confirm The name makes me wonder if the softlock was deliberate

I mean, I always saw him as a father figure for Rayman in Rayman Junior! I noted as much back in 2014 when expressing my distaste for "his" portrayal in Legends...
I liked the Magician and Betilla in those educational games, they make for a good company throughout the adventure.

If you guys had to make me choose between Rayman Brain Games and Rayman Activity Center to play for the rest of my life, ya'll exactly know which one I'm picking.
It's not Brain Games, it punishes its players >n>
True, the punishments can feel a bit harsh, but Activity Center is not a even a platformer, just a bundle of activities for kindergarten kids. You can stil enjoy the platforming and atmosphere of Brain Games as an adult, but I'm not sure what's left to enjoy in Activity Center past the age of 6.

Now that I look at these replies I feel like none of Rayman 1 spin-offs worth my attention at all...
Maybe I shouldn't be touching them?..
Rayman Junior is worth playing imo. But then it was my first platformer ever, so it's got a lot of nostalgia for me
I'm in the exact same situation, so I must agree.

I feel that I must have asked this before, but do we know anything about this competition? The wiki states that "Ubi Soft opened a contest for Rayman Designer players to upload their custom levels to the UbiOnline server", but I can't find any source.

So what if I enjoy it past the age of 6? lol smh, Hunchman, there's no shame in making your inner child feel happy XD

Of course, this is only my personal opinion and everyone has the right to enjoy it regardless of their age.

Okay valid qwq
Also hhh I'm already stuck on Rayman 1 (DSiWare version), idk if the other versions would be any better lol

The DSi version specifically has a huge knockback issue which results in Rayman being pushed back much more than intended, so it can be way harder despite the extra health points.
Advance tends to be considered easier, with 1 extra HP and some adjustments to cage placement, but IMO the zoomed-in screen makes it even more difficult and some platforms/mechanics are kind of broken so you can't reach a few extra lives.
Redemption is really the way to go if Rayman 1 is too hard for you, the difficulty curve is near perfect with only the final challenges or some bonus stages being very hard. ...Otherwise there's Rayman Ultimate on Pocket PC which gives you an absurd amount of HPs but good luck getting this one and making it work on a modern device!

I brought up the template thing years ago on a different forum, and I felt at least some responses were insightful, but now I realize that entire thread was basically more hearsay and conjecture.
Anyway, I first got Rayman Forever in either 2005 or 2006, and I had heard before buying it that the forty new levels were made by fans as part of a "competition". The only places I can think of that I would have heard that are Pok2's fansite, or the KMG Associates site. (Or possibly Wikipedia, in which case the information is even less reliable )

That explains why I fall off in Gong Heights too easily. Might try Redemption if it's PC only (unless someone made a 3DS version of it.)

I'm not sure why people say Rayman 1 is hard, especially when they talk about Space Mama, this footage shows how reasonable the boss fight is ...

I found Candy Château significantly harder in Redemption than in the original game, and I couldn't even beat Mr Dark there, but maybe I just don't know how to play games anymore?

It's definitely not just you Humch, I had the same problem, and I'm pretty sure I still know how to play games (or at least I did in 2020)!

Yes, same here. I had to quit in the middle of the penultimate fight with Mr Dark. The next time, I already knew what to expect and it was much easier.
