Couldn't agree more. Something more original would be much better choice.

That would be awesome and I want it to happen :P

Ah, now I get it. Magic is indeed good idea for attacking. You press attack button and he does simple Magic, holding attack button could do bigger damage and stuff.

Hey folks,

here's an eighty minute gameplay trailer for Rayman Legends. Just wanted to share it with you. But be aware, it contains S-P-O-I-L-E-R-S! So watch at your own risk. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KRgrumxKGM

Thanks, but we've already seen it. Some of us (including myself) have seen it live as well.

Sorry, didn't know that it was posted before. In times of internet "news" are very relative to time. :D
What's your general opinion on it so far?

I don't HATE the idea, but I don't think it will work either way now. That is a pretty good mock-up though.

I was thinking that the Teensie Magician would use mechanical objects to fight. We know he was going to be playable in Origins, and in Get Away! he used a propeller to hover instead of the regular Teensie way, so he could use other things like that for his fighting moves too.

Seeing the intriguing way they've expanded the Magician's role in Legends really hammers home just how much more effective this game would be if he still looked like the Magician. Imagine if he was the real deal, a member of Rayman's species, magic wand in hand, long blonde locks, eyes perpetually hidden by the iconic top hat, but still sporting the carefree, slightly deranged smirk with which he personally introduced us to Rayman's world in 1995. I don't mean to come across as a whingeing fan, but damn, what a colossal misstep!
I can fully agree with that. In Rayman Origins there were just too much Teensies. It was overteensiefied. I mean Teensies were cool in Rayman 2 but in Origins they were annoying as hell and every second costume was a Teensie costume. The animations of them were a little bit to stiff in my opinion. A Mr. Dark, Magician (original version) or Joe the Extraterrestrial costumes, now that would be great. I'm not very happy about all the redesigns of Rayman 1 characters. It's not that they're bad or something it's just they changed characters who where already introduced. And even if Betilla looks pretty nice I liked her being more of a mother-type like in Rayman 1. Another thing were the boss fights. The bad flower was awesome but that it became a little flower in the end was ridiculous. The angry bird was too much in my opinion, it's just not serious to take.

Rayman 1 had that some-kind-of-seriousness that Origins lacked. When you go through the levels of Rayman 1 they are all thematically connected and interweaved into each other. We had that in Origins too, but it lacked that odyssee type of Rayman 1. For example when you reach the mountain levels and go further and further and at last there is this giant boss Mr. Stone. Just epic! And these scenes and bosses it lacks in Origins. Origins is like if Polokus has smoked crack, you can't take it as much serious and authentic as the original games.

Hopefully they will introduce similar great moments in Rayman Legends but I doubt it. That doesn't mean it will be "bad", I just want to see some epic and interconnected levels similar to ones seen in Rayman 1 plus the odysee atmosphere. Nonetheless it will be a great game even if it can't (and maybe doesn't want to) compete with the original.

Nothing really new. Some nice scenes from the kick-off event in montpellier at the beach and some from the ubiart engine.
It contains less gameplay spoilers I think (Its a german video).
