Re: Rayman 2
So, did you end up restarting the level, Eurotool?
Re: Rayman 2
This is from an old magazine (around 1998) which show some old character descriptions. Looks like Clark and the others originally were meant to have bigger roles.
The magician (Polokus was originally a magician) is the first character, that free Ray. He also returns to other levels to teach you different tricks (for example how to shoot).
Globox is the one who brings the rain and harms the robots. The problem is that he is a bit fearful by nature, and you will have to calm him down.
Clark can take Ray and throw him in the air to gain access to higher platforms in the game. He is a character of a dual personality (buddy or enemy?) which has very well-developed Al.
Ly can immobilize certain objects and characters.

Re: Rayman 2
Yes, that's right of course, Polokus (or Polochus) was originally supposed to be the 3D adaptation of the Magician, wasn't he? Makes Origins seem not quite so bad!

Re: Rayman 2
Oh, was he? I must have read about it and completely forgotten, though it totally makes sense. Regardless, I would trade this anytime with what Origins did to the magician.

Re: Rayman 2
If you let your mind wander on the concept for a while, you can kinda connect the idea of Jano wearing the same hat as Polokus, with the idea of Ales wearing the same hat as the original Magician, possibly impersonating him. It's something to think about (even if the idea of giving Jano the same hat as Polokus probably came after they scrapped the notion that the latter was the Magician
).

Re: Rayman 2
Wait until the next Rayman game reveals that Jano is in fact Globox, that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Re: Rayman 2
So, when Ssssam tells you he saw Globox being dragged across the Marshes by a couple of Pirates, he's bending the truth to try to distract you and drag you away from where he saw Globox putting on a Polokus hat and transforming into a hideous monster, and standing guard at an entrance? Then when you get the Elixir, his work is done, so he makes his way to the Canopy and gets himself captured? Makes perfect sense!

Re: Rayman 2
Interesting, would be cool if some of these features come back in future titles, they could also be used in Rayman 2 fan remake.

Re: Rayman 2
Well, a couple of Globox's kids look kind of evil, I wouldn't be surprised if he was part nightmare.
Re: Rayman 2
Hardrox definitely looks dangerous alright.

Re: Rayman 2
I dont think Rayman 2 is really my favorite. I've only tired the DS version (and GBA version if you count R3 GBA as that) so that might be the problem. But I'm just not interested or understanding why Rayman 2 is the favorite of many. But I'll play the game until the end to give it an actual score. For now, its probably my least favorite of the Rayman Trilogy.
Re: Rayman 2
I think that is the problem... I've heard many negative things about some of the later potrs.S&Watch (RaymanFan) wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 4:44 pm I dont think Rayman 2 is really my favorite. I've only tired the DS version (and GBA version if you count R3 GBA as that) so that might be the problem.
Proper Rayman 2 experience should be on the PC or Dreamcast (the latter may be actually easier to play on a PC through an emulator). Then, after at least one playthrough, you can try the PS2 version (Rayman Revolution) mostly to see where it changes/expands on the original, but I would not suggest to start with it.

Maybe this is the real canonical reason why Globox and his kids are blue?Elite Piranha wrote: Thu Feb 11, 2021 3:31 pm Well, a couple of Globox's kids look kind of evil, I wouldn't be surprised if he was part nightmare.

Re: Rayman 2
I've not seen this specific image before, I'm surprised of how good Ly looks here, she looks terrible in most pictures from the japanese version.
Thanks for sharing!
Re: Rayman 2
It's one thing for Ly to look like that, and for Rayman to wear blue, but why are the Globox's scaleless in the Japanese version.

Hmm, pink-lipped Ly… Is that up there with green-lipped Tily?

She looks pretty much the same from what I can see on RayWiki, or am I missing something?Elite Piranha wrote: Sun Feb 21, 2021 2:50 am I've not seen this specific image before, I'm surprised of how good Ly looks here, she looks terrible in most pictures from the japanese version.

Re: Rayman 2
I guess it's all about the context. While she looks fine like that in the middle of a brochure page, she looks very wrong in the middle of that pirate bastion (as do the blue Popolopoï). Maybe it's just because I grew up with the Western version, but that picture just looks really off to me.
