To anyone that’s actually played (and 100% mastered) the game, how long can you declare it approximately is? For the average gamer? I remember how pumped I was about portal 2 this year, only to beat it in 7 or so hours, which didn’t at all affect the quality of the game (it’s awesome) but left me feeling a little…. Empty? I just wish it was a bit longer and after 8 years of waiting for a new official, canonical main series rayman game, I’m getting paranoid that it will be too short

I played trough the first two world and think I easily spend 4 - 6 hours on it.

You mean completely played through them, or just beat them without accounting for secrets and whatnot?

probably as Michel Ancel is obsessed with ubi-art frame work

I'm sure she's scared. :P

Last time I'll buy a game on launch day online. I'll just get off my lazy ass and grab it in stores like everybody else.
Sometimes it is better, you know. When I pre-ordered SPORE Galactic Edition in an online store, to be lifted in the release date, I had to still wait an extra day because EA Portugal was delayed in the distribution of the game for that online store, while the physical store had already units of the game. It was the first and last time.

Might try and get her to come over my house and try them though just to see her face when she realizes that its harder than it seems.
Here's an idea, ask her if to play just one level, if she agrees, make her play Bongo Hills.
Then see if she thinks it's easy.
I have a better idea: Space Mama's Crate. :mryellow: That's the hardest level of the whole game.

I've read lots of stuff like that. You have to wonder if anyone is ever going to explain why they think 2D games are not worthy of a full release.

That's their loss, if they don't understand the worth, then they should not be given the right to experience it.

I’d like it if they called the next game Rayman 5.

They can't, as a lot of people would wonder why they skipped Rayman 4 (even though this is definitely it).

I imagine that calling the next game in the series ‘Rayman 5’ would make Origins’s status more clear, not less clear. It’s not unheard of for one sequel to drop the numbering system and another sequel to reinstate it in this way, though I can’t think of any examples at the moment.

Not to bring the seemingly hated FPSes into this, but the Halo franchise works like this. It goes Halo Reach, Halo-future title Halo Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3-Halo 3 ODST, future title Halo 4 (H3 and ODST are simultaneous; Halo Anniversary is a remake of Halo 1). Because Reach is based earlier than Halo 1, but was made after Halo 3, they had to come up with another way to name it. They can't just call it Halo 0 - that would be weird.

I do wonder if Ancel plans on doing more Rayman. I'm sure he's not through with the character yet, but I'm unsure as to if he and his team will get enough ideas together to make another Rayman title. Hear us talking! Origins is just out, or round the corner for Europe and we're already talking about a next game.

Here's hoping it doesn't degenerate back into the state we were in the Rabbids era.

That's the nowadays gaming market. :?

Well, why I'm still surprised? Sonic Generations is asking 100€ for the Collector's Edition but I didn't listen any complaints yet.

What would they want next? RO being a fully free game? Ubisoft isn't Valve.
+1
Some people i've shown the game even went as far as saying "THAT GAME LOOKS STUPID AND EASY, THE GAMES I PLAY SUCH AS 'Insert game here' ARE SO MUCH BETTER AND HARDER, LIKE LOOK AT THAT RAYMAN GUY HOW THE HELL DOES HE WORK? DATS SO DUMB!"
That response usullay comes from the ones that think thier better at gaming then everyone else yet all they play is COD or any game thats popular. (Like that one girl I mentioned who thinks shes a better gamer then me dispite the fact that she olny plays easy anime RPGS and also blames me for all the RO ads showing up :boon: )
Anyone who can complete Rayman 1 100% is, in my book, an extremely skilled gamer. There are so many classic PS1 games which are difficult, just look at the first Crash Bandicoot game or Kula World or even the first two Oddworld titles. Games like Modern Warfare 3 are for pussies who love to blow things up and shoot people. MW3 is the reason I rarely bother buying modern games any more, because they are so monotonous and predictable. Where on Earth is the appeal in spending hours shooting virtual people, regardless of the game's actual plot/storyline? I think Rayman Origins is a breath of fresh air, it's about time we had some more decent platform/adventure games. Oddworld HD should be interesting as well, when it finally surfaces.

Now you understand why I'm more a Retro Gamer rather than a Modern Gamer. There are great gems behind.

Yes, I also do not understand the fun of games like MW3. I don't see kids at all playing platformers anymore, they just want war/FPS games. :| It's really sad to see how this changed in 10 years.
