Just remembering the Mr Dark/Magician controversy gives me bad memories. So the explanation would be this simple: [While Rayman and his friends spent the next 100 years sleeping, nightmares multiplied around the Glade, and so did the Magician, who survived the explosion in Rayman Origins and multiplied into 5 separate individuals, known as the Dark Teensies.]. Easy as cake.
Isn't that what I just said?

Indeed it is. I just wanted to make it clear for everyone [So we can avoid theories about virus, cloning, magic, cults or impostors.]. It just happened, that's what's important :P

Unless there's some explanation as to how Rayman and his friends could sleep for a hundred years without any trouble, I'm going to have a hard time believing that. I feel that even by their universe's standards it doesn't seem feasible.

Oh no! Something in a series where a limbless man and a blue frog fight robot pirates doesn't make sense! Whatever shall we do?

People really have to stop trying to make sense of the Rayman games. The tone, story, characters, and gameplay have shifted so drastically between games that it really isn't worth it anymore. Not to mention that even the slightest bit of continuity between games has been completely mangled. Remember how there were only supposed to be 1000 Lums? Remember how that was completely ignored in every game after Rayman 2? Remember how Ly was an important character in Rayman 2? Remember how she's never appeared in any games since? Things change in Rayman's world, and there's an in-universe reason for it: Dream logic. The world is made of dreams, of course nonsensical things could happen, of course important things could change, stuff like that happens all the time in dreams.

There's also an actual reason: Michel Ancel really doesn't care about making a good story anymore in the Rayman games. He's simply trying to make the best possible GAME he and his crew can. The last time he tried to add a good story to a Rayman game, we got the Rabbids. I'm not saying Rayman games can't tell a good story, Rayman 2's best quality to me was it's story, but they clearly aren't going to put any big complex stories in any new Rayman games anymore. Well, maybe when the new 3D game is revealed, but we don't even know if that still even exists.

Wasnt that idea of sleeping 100 years scrapped?

@OCG No, it is actually the actual plot.

In that case, just like Gwee, I want explanation how did they do it.

Slept for 100 years? F*** it, I'm making up my own canon. *Strolls back to the educational spinoffs*

The paintings don't actually go to different dimensions. We've been theorizing [that The Magician cloned himself, or that the whole nightmares multiplying somehow made him multiply too.]
We explicitly saw it happen in the opening sequence. Why question this?

I really don't understand all the moaning about the characters sleeping for a hundred years. Seriously, who cares? What difference does it make? This is not exactly an unprecedented idea in French fairy tales you know. You have no idea how many years passed between the first four games. Is the chronological separation from Origins a problem for you? Are you somehow upset by the idea that the characters don't age? I don't get it.

Here's my theory: THEY'RE FUCKING VIDEOGAME CHARACTERS IN A WORLD WHERE MAGIC IS THE MOST RECURRING THEME.

They can live thousands of years if they want.

Actually, I had never thought about it that way :P Fine, I'm satisfied enough.

As for sleeping for 100 years... I won't question that in a magical world.

Except the "screwing around with hair to fly" is impossible to translate. I did my best :/
Does he actually say "God, what a translation"? Because that would actually be kind of funny.
My fault for only accidentally noticing this now, but aye. Although it's pretty ambigous if the word he says means "translation" or "explanation". I'm pretty sure it is translation in that context, though. Murfy also oftentimes says "Jesus" and "God" which is kinda funny to hear.

That's cool! In Spanish he just said 'The manual says you can do a helicopter with your hair. A helicopter with your hair? *I can't remember what he sayd here, some phrase mocking that power*'

It should. If it does not, it would be unfair.
