Rayman Pirate-Community

I thought I'd show here a comic I've been working on this past month and a half (two now). The story of this comic was originally written ten years ago by a wonderfully talented artist on Deviantart named andrewk. I started this not terribly long after I became a full Rayman fan and andrewk's drawings inspired me to learn to draw Rayman and his friends and even tackle my first long-term project.

The first chapter is done, and I will be tackling the next one in due time.

This is truly flawless. Honestly really reminds me of a 90's cartoon with it's silly humor. It truly captured the personality of the characters from Rayman 2 (3 with Murphy), quite well. As I said before, I love the art style, it really POPS out at you. My favorite in particular being Ly, she looks great as a cartoon character and so 'alive' you could say. The plot in this was also very hilarious, I loved scene with Grunge in particular. The personality of the characters as said before are flawless, Globox being the silly glute, Rayman being the energetic hero always ready to fight, Clark being the silly, yet not the brightest person, etc. So far I'm really liking the comic, the art style, including the story is great. I look forward to more of the work in the future.

The style reminded me of andrewk's art the moment i saw it - great depiction of all the characters, especially Ly. Why don't you link your deviantart account here?

Hahah, The Island of Loss was the very first piece of FanFiction I'd ever read, way back in 2003 when I first made an account on a website. Shortly after, I came across the FanFic's illustrations, and for years I idolised its artwork, almost always basing my own drawings off of them.

While for some reason only the first three pages are loading for me right now (so I can't read very much at the moment), I can say that Andrew has both massively inspired and influenced my artstyle to this date. I can't believe how precisely you've emulated his style. It's unbelievably accurate, and for a split second I thought that you actually were him.

Earth Gwee, I love your comic! I definitely like the drawing style, which program did you use by the way? Photoshop? I think I saw one of the pages in deviantART but I didn't know it was you. I also never read andrewk's story, so I am unfamiliar with. I admit I very rarely read fanfiction.

I want to see more!

Ironically, Ly is one of the harder characters to for me to keep consistent (in my eyes), mostly her face and her hair. While she's fairly easy to draw, it's not always easy keeping her consistent, which is something I'm still struggling with. My deviantart account is http://earthgwee.deviantart.com/

Yeah, the style influenced me greatly. And since this is his story, I felt I would see if I could resemble at least his formatting style. Over time, I've learned to draw the characters in a way that feels comfortable to me, thanks to andrewk's drawings serving as my inspiration. But I've always had a certain way of drawing characters, Rayman in particular. It just took the work of another artist to help me refine my way of drawing him and his friends.

Ah, dang. That's sucks it's not loading for you. Hopefully it will soon so you can see how my style evolves and improves through the course of what I've got so far.

As for the program I use, I use Paint Tool SAI. Then I switch to GIMP for typing out the dialogue.

Oh wow that's a very very nice comic! I've never heard of andrewk or Neocreation Day before but the comic is great!

Yeah, you should look for him on Deviantart. Even his older art is some of the best I've seen. I think it's feature film worthy, which makes sense, since he's an animator in the making.

Ah, I'm sorry not to have shown my own amazement at this work, it works well with the Rayman designs, and also with the comic format, nothing else I can say except to keep at it.

Want to let you guys know that I have completed the first chapter in the comic and should be taking on the next one in the near future.

Anyway, that's a great ending of Chapter 1 Earth Gwee! Do you have future chapters all planned out, or are you improvising?

The story's already written out, so yes. I do plan on continuing the comic.

I know I'm double posting here, but I wanted to give everyone an update on the comic. Here is the start of Chapter Two. And in hind sight, I probably should have thought the title of this thread through, since I'll be posting all three chapters on here instead of just the first one. This post will be edited with each new page, so stay tuned.

I'm more than willing to edit the title should you wish, just let me now what you want to edit it to.
I decided to reread Chapter 1, and I'm still impressed by your work, I genuinely look forward to seeing Chapter 2.
