It's weird how the mysterious guild was only mentioned in the main R2 article, but not in the early production one.
Thanks, this was quite an oversight!

Hey everyone! Sorry for changing argument ^^ I've always wondered: how BIG is the Buccaneer? In length, height, width... Because it's really gigantic, like something we've never seen before. Do you know any reference or a way to calculate this? It should be interesting enough imo :?:

Someone from DeviantArt already tried to calculate how big it is. I would love to see the Buccaneer in one of those fictional ships size comparison videos.

Oh that is not bad, could be done a bit better but it's definitely good enough. I love those videos too lol

This is great. I wonder if we can mention it on the Wiki entry for the Buccaneer. Maybe as 'trivia' at least.

Not bad! But seeing a measurement ruler beside six blurry pixels immediately sent my mind to https://xkcd.com/2295/ :hap:

Razorbeard's exact heigh (which can be used as a base to find other measurements) is unknown, according to the site it is less than 1.2m meters even with his arms raised. There are official size comparisons, and people have tried to measure other "things" from Rayman, but I don't know if it is possible to reach a satisfactory answer to these questions.

I think it would be neat to add this kind of information to the wiki though, but since I'm terrible at math I won't say anything more.

It's really hard to estimate, but I think the DeviantArt dude got the order of magnitude right. As for Razorbeard's height, it's probably worth mentioning that "1m20 les bras levés" is a fairly common phrase in French to mock someone's short stature, and I wouldn't be surprised if the translator had taken it literally and therefore created a fact out of nowhere.

Oh yeah, particularly since using metres for height still feels pretty unnatural in many (all?) English-speaking countries! :hap: Well, that's yet another alternative fact created by a Rayman English translator!

You are probably right. In Russian a similar mocking phrase is "метр с кепкой" - "1 meter with a cap on".

In the official english text form the old site, it says:
Even with his arms raised, he's not even four feet tall!

Ah yes, that other link was German, I didn't pay close enough attention! :oops2: Well, that's a fair translation, and doesn't tie it to a specific figure.

I know it's unrelated, but I just noticed Umber was supposed to be a baddie in Rayman 2 thanks to the image Elite shared.

I'm curious what the battle between him and Rayman could have looked like…

You can also see that Carmen and Eig were originally both supposed to be enemies, and be more similarly coloured. This was also at the point when Polokus was still supposed to be the Magician…

If my memory serves me correctly, you can still die inside Eig's mouth. I guess that might be enough for him to be considered an enemy… :P

Interesting though, I hadn't noticed that Carmen was supposed to be an enemy, and that Polokus was supposed to be the Magician.

If Umber was Rayman's enemy, maybe he could have summoned rocks or fill certain areas with lava. Also, it seems that in the norwegian translation Razorbeard is barely 1 meter high with his arms over his head (I'm using Google Translate).
Razor Face
Selv med armene over hodet er han knapt en meter høy! Men ikke nevn størrelsen hans … han er ganske følsom på det området.
Also, the original french text from the site:

1 mètre 20 les bras levés! Pas d'allusion à sa taille, il le prend très mal!

in a cutscene of Rayman 2 when was in 2D or Rayman's training short appear the next:
R2 2D screenshot.png
R2 2D screenshot.png (800.96 KiB) Viewed 1980 times
if you looks the stones, the first there it is a draw of the unknown punching bag character holding something, the another stone there it is a rayman draw and down of it appear other symbols.
about the punching bag, if you look to the deep on the background in this image, appear the said punching bag, and it has only one hand on the image, so possibly the thing that hit Rayman in this part of the cutscene or short it's the fist of the punching bag, like Rayman that he also can shot his fist. like Rayman, The punching bag also has the ring symbol that Rayman has on his body.

Yeah, I remember stumbling into that Rayman World website in the past, however I'm not sure of what are the requirements for a Rayman related website to be added to the wiki. So far the ones from this category are websites that are part of RPC, are affiliated with RPC or have some particular association/history with RPC (MetalGearRayman was created by someone that has an account here).

Edit: I think at some point I brought up the Rayman O'Meter stuff that is in there, but at the end I didn't know where to add the images and the text.

This pretty much confirms that none of those figures are to be taken literally! One alternative fact down. :hap:

I think RaymanZone has an article too, so it probably makes sense to include notable official websites. On the other hand, I'm not sure why something like MetalGearRayman even has an article.

One thing though: TTK, please read the manual of style before making any more contributions to the wiki. It's an encyclopedia so you can't write there like you would on a forum.
