It's not that neat. Not even a single artwork of Barbara.

So I tried out my capture card with my Mega Drive today and for some reason the video is going crazy. :?

Switch set to PAL:

Switch set to NTSC:

Does somebody know why this is happening?

Weird. Does it do that with other consoles too ? Your capture card might be broken, but I really don't know what the problem could be if it isn't what I just said ...

No, it's just with the Mega Drive.
And the NES also has a problem where the video locks up, but the PS2 works fine. :confus:

Out of curiosity, someone here understands Punjabi?
I'm investigating and I've found something pretty important, everything leads me to think it is written in Punjabi.

What kind of capture card and video connections are you trying to use?

Ideally, if you can, I'd suggest going the route of using RGB output on the consoles like the Mega Drive. I know the Genesis has native RGB output, where you can use a scart cable, and with that, plug it into the XRGB-Mini Framemeister. Then HDMI out from there into a capture device with HDMI. Especially if your aim, in the end, is great picture quality.

Well I'm using some kind of easycap type thing which only supports composite and S-video, otherwise I would've upscaled it with RGB scart like you described :fou:

Try getting an S-Video cable – it’s better than composite.

The easycap never worked with the Mega Drive? Quite possible the Mega Drive may use an incompatible resolution.
Fifo wrote:Try getting an S-Video cable – it’s better than composite.
While true, is the Mega Drive even capable of S-video? I know the Genesis isn't. The Super Nintendo is, but as far as I am aware you'd need to mod the Sega console for S-video support.

Well it can be modded to output S-video.

Likely depends if CHRdutch is capable of or knows anyone who can mod the console. Though if he can, I do recommend the RGB solution in the future. Certainly well worth it.

Otherwise, let's focus on the compatibility of the easycap on the resolutions supported for him. :)

Yeah, I assume it has something to do with the resolution since my capture card has no problems with recording PS2.
Also, if you look at the first post, you can see that me and my dad have modded my Mega Drive! :D (single switch mod)
(by the way, I already have an RGB scart cable)

What would be a better investment? A PS4 or a PS3? The PS4 is newer, but the PS3 has the bigger library of games I would like to play.

Well that certainly is a step closer. :)

Either way, you may need to get a scaler or a capture card compatible with the resolution.

Well, if the PS3 has the bigger library of games that interest you, that may be the best choice.

Could always get a PS4 later. Used game prices would be quite optimal right now for the PS3.

PS3 is probably the better option for now, it might be on its last legs, but I think it's a more justified purchase. The PS4 is kinda underwhelming for me, there are good titles, don't get me wrong, but the titles that I find interesting seem to be few and far between. Though that's more a matter of taste.

Seeing as the PS4 has no PS3 backwards compatibility, I'm leaning towards the PS3. I really want to play the Ratchet and Clank games.

Then I highly recommend starting with the PS3 then. :)

Oh, and PS3 has all of the good PS Classic Titles. I'm definitely going for a PS3 now.
