I'm essentially the same because of my back in terms of being stuck in. Get well soon.

Thanks, I hope the same for you too. Although….

- Took an antigen test this morning, and tested positive for COVID. Having a really great week here! :tssk:
- It sucked isolating for 2 days, now I have to do it longer. Normally this would be great except I’m really sick at this point.

- I went to the emergency room today. I had to be there for 5 hours.
+/- The diagnosis isn't too bad, but I still don't feel well.

+ I'm recovering now from covid, in fact much quicker than I thought, as I no longer feel any of the symptoms (aside from the annoying bronchitis) I had 2-3 days ago. Kind of strange since I thought it would last at least another couple days before I would feel this good (let's hope I don't jinx that). Thank you guys for your support.
+ Tried a lot of remedies to calm all the issues I was having and found simply rehydrating myself was the best decision. I wish I'd tried that before downing half a bottle of honey in 3 days! :oops2:
- Unfortunately though, my fears have happened, and my dad's now sick in bed. Honestly, feeling more horrified for him than happiness at my quick recovery, especially since I was the one who infected him. The only silver lining to this is that it was unintentional as I probably infected him the day before I tested positive, when I thought i only had a cold.

Honestly this week has been one of the lowest ones I've had in a long time. But I'm not going to be spending it sulking or being negative. I have to stay positive and just do what I need to do, I suppose. :)

..........

On a sidenote Dave, shocking to hear you went to the ER! I wonder if things are alright with you now?

Sorry to hear that about your father! Hopefully it will only be a few days... Have you noticed loss of smell or taste?
---
The reason I went to the emergency room was even surprising to me :fou:... I went to the doctor because I had been feeling some discomfort in my testicle for a few days. I don't want to give details about the 5 hours I was there, as I could go on for too long, but basically they were a bit worried after inspecting them so they did an ultrasound scan in case I had some kind of tumor. In the end they didn't see anything related to any tumor, but it looks like I will have to go to the urologist for a future operation, as what I have may be a significant discomfort as the years go by.

Thnak you guys for your concerns! Although I wouldn't know if he had a loss because i'm confined to my room until at least tomorrow.

+/- Had some delicious soup, but thanks so you guys, now I'm cravinz pizza. And I'm feeling well enough for it too sooooo.... :pizza: :yum:

Even if you feel better, try to take Paracetamol every 8 hours, that was very useful for me to test negative quickly... Same for your father of course.

+ Indeed they won out again, cuz my sister bought pizza for me! So refreshing!
+ Also, glad to hear you are doing better now!
+ Today will be day 5 of isolation. I think I’ll ask my mom to give me another antigen test to see how I’m doing, I barely feel like I’m sick (aside from the bronchitis).

Speaking of them, I still remember how I couldn’t get an “official” positive test result. :P

Yeah the same thing happened with dad a few days ago, he had a positive and then for some reason he tested angain and got negative. Ofc since he now has the symptoms (in fact it seems he has more of the serious symptoms than I did) I guess he was positive and I really did have it :oops2:

no, by “official” I meant a commercial PCR (lab) or rapid test.

When I caught it from my brother and tested myself at home, I got positives consistently (with thin, tapered swabs, going as deep as I could, even though it was rather uncomfortable). I thought I’d get it verified officially, so I had a PCR test (mid-nasal and oral swab) done. I was surprised when I got texted after a very long wait stating it was negative! I took another home test (nasopharyngeal swab again) and got another positive result. I couldn’t figure out how/why, so I went to a testing booth, asking them to go deep to collect as much virus as they can. They rammed the swab ALL THE WAY to the back of my nasal passages – and yes it did hurt! I was surprised it came out negative. I couldn’t figure out how, so I did yet another deep swab at home and it came out positive. In the end I just called my doctor to get it written into my medical records and she believed me.

Ohhhh you mean the other kind of tests, the PCR tests! Yeah I hear those are much more accurate in getting a negative than antigen tests, but take longer to process, while antigen is the opposite in that it's more reliable for a positive result (which somehow ended up being true with me). Also yeah PCR tests involve some sort of sample of RNA and lab technologies which I assume is what makes the time lengthy. I guess my question then would be, did you ever get an at-home negative result?

+/- Which, you just reminded me, I have to inform my doctors at some point that I tested positive....
+ Also, need to reschedule my summons.

Not really. Antigen tests can sometimes miss the virus if you have a low viral load! I got a consistent positive at home because I spent more time/effort swabbing DEEP inside both my nostrils (into the nasopharyngeal area). When I had my commercial test done, they just inserted the swab halfway into one of my nostrils, then took another swab and briefly rubbed my cheek area with it. That might’ve been why it didn’t find the virus.

Tons of times.

Hmmm interesting, i thought the commercial tests would have been much more thorough than that. Oh but then they run it through a lab so I guess it doesn't need to be as thorough as at-home tests then.

+/- Still can't leave my room, but mom will test me tomorrow.
- I still haven't finished anything today to say I was productive yet :oops2:
