So for those of you who don't know, Reggie Fils-Aime is the President of Nintendo of America, and an all around lovable personality. He's been the cause of a few internet memes, and has many amusing quotes.

It has long been a dream of Smash fans to get Reggie as a playable character. There is even a petition.

...Which Sakurai and Reggie have both recognised...

So...LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN. You can sign the petition here:

DONE! but uh SB, why didn't you post this on the smash bro's page?
anyway before anything happens to this page i'd love to think of all the crazy thing Reggie would do, namely a "My body is ready!" final smash.

I didn't post it there because:

1) It's pretty much dead. I made it, and already tried to revive it, but it didn't happen, so I'm just leaving it for now.
2) Having a topic that tells people about this before they even click on the topic is a better way of spreading the word.

thanks anyway, i'm really exited, sending the links to my friends! heard reggie also said that petitions don't mean shit in terms of localization (not exact words) whatever, ign is gettin butt hurt about it, half the people probably didn't properly think of the context as usual, as many XBOX/PS/PC fans stated that nintendo just admitted it will never listen to its fans  Like Rockstar does everything its Japanese fans do!

Hm, if he did get in, what styling would he use? I'd vote for a Mii styled Reggie, fits two Ninty criteria in one.

There are some Year of Luigi activities that will continue into 2014—including some of the special products that we’ve launched (the Luigi remote and the Mario and Luigi 3DS XL)—so there will be some Luigi products to carry the Luigi banner into the next calendar year.
Thank you based Reggie.

This is a horrible idea. Why would you want him to take up a slot which could have been a much better character?

"Take up a slot"

You say it as if Reggie's appearance cancels out the possibility of other characters appearing.

And he is literally as much of a Nintendo icon as any Nintendo character. He has done a lot for the company. Plus, he'd just be damn funny in the game to boot.

Besides, it's not like there are many other newcomers who make sense as an addition. Literally the only other newcomer I want personally is Professor Layton. Maybe Lady Palutena too, but I doubt she'd get in (plus, I haven't actually played Uprising yet).

And while I'm glad Rosalina is in (one of the top characters on my wishlist), she's from an already represented series. Not many franchises are left to represent, which is why I feel Reggie would be the freshest entry to the game.

Another thing they can do is easily model him after his Mii. Not only do they already have the model for this, but this kills two birds with one stone, as a lot of people want Miis to be represented on the roster in some form.

I would actually like to see Reggie in the game look like how he looks in real life. He would look so out of place, it would be awesome.

I agree, though I was just mentioning the Mii idea anyway.

I think putting in realistic Reggie would be fine. We already had realistic Snake.

Actually, he looks pretty much the same as all the other brawl characters, which in my opinion looked pretty bad because they tried too hard to be "realistic" even with the most cartoony characters. Just look at poor toon link in that game. I say he should've looked like this:

And this is only a mod.
Yeah, it's played at a super high resolution on an emulator but it still would look good characters looked more like this in SSBB. I'm glad they decided to stick to cartoony-ness on the new SSB game.

I didn't mind the more realistic style because it literally only applied to textures. I actually thought Toon Link looked great in Brawl. He had a painterly look to him. And Brawl didn't try as hard to achieve a realistic look as Melee did. In Melee, even the stages looked oddly realistic for the most part.

Snake still stood out a little because he was so realistically proportioned and had a dark colour palette compared to most characters.

I'm not saying I want the realistic style back, the new games look beautiful. I just didn't see anything particularly wrong with it. And it actually benefited a lot of characters, such as Captain Falcon, who never looked better.
