Audio Hell

What would be the equivalent of pure hell for you in terms of audio?

For me it would be if Bose and Beats Audio became the mostly wildly recognized speaker companies. People touting around Beats headphones, as they are "the best" headphones they have ever used (that says something about their existence), and wishing for Bose speakers, because "I remember I hooked their Sounddock up to my TV and OH MAN!!"

Oh, wait. This is already happening.

My dear, oblivious friends, you've just entered the first circle of Hell.

Gotta love how this simple sound effect I created in about one minute is the basis for most pop songs out there.

Indeed. Possibly even worse than Crazy Bus.

May I be honest and say that I actually find the Call me maybe song tolerable? Same goes for most pop. If there is one person whose music does grate my brain to hell and back though...

it's Avril Lavigne. Fucking cannot stand her Girlfriend song.

Then you get ones like Britney Spears where some of her songs I only like ironically (ie Womaniser) but otherwise her voice does my head in.

Another form of audio hell for me is that growling shit in death metal. HRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHH

lol

It depends on the death metal song for me. If it's just unintelligible growling, then I will naturally not like the song (except for a laugh, of course), but I do like metal if it has good playing and/or good lyrics, then I will like the song better.

I also don't mind that song, it's instrumentation is arguably unique to an extent.

Amusingly, I actually really, really like Avril Lavigne's voice, she's probably one of my favourite female singers.

I like a lot of the stuff from her first two albums, but almost nothing succeeding those two I found to be any good, and I can't remember any of it.

I've never been bothered by the genre actually, in that if someone has it blasting, I'm totally fine with it sitting on, sort of like any other genre of music. I have no desire to listen to it of my own accord though.

I'm not a great person to talk to about music (outside of video game music), and I am probably a bit too negative about it in general (as in, I generally don't bother searching for good bands or anything anymore), but I definitely agree. Avril Lavigne has an absolutely beautiful voice. I used to listen to her songs, even Girlfriend.

------------

Most dubstep bothers me because I actually really like the kind of stuff possible within the genre, it's just that most dubstep songs literally are just the overly repetitive "WUBWUBWUBoooooooooooCHHEEEEWWUBWUB" crap that so many people make fun of the genre for. The genre is fine, but it's difficult to find it well implemented, which is aggravating.

Anything by Akon...

Also, this one:

This song was really popular at some point here. I still hate it.

Also, as I showed in a previous post, you can create the same basic beat used for many dubstep/club songs in about two seconds. :P In fact, someone actually came in when I was playing that file, and asked if it was a song.

Man, I love Call Me Maybe, it's great for what it is, catchy and simple, gotta love those strings.

I also am not a fan of Beats headphones, couldn't believe how bad they were, but you know, whatever makes people happy.

The only reason people like them is out of ignorance. They think that being endorsed by Dr. Dre instantly makes them the best headphones imaginable. My old HK ear buds provided better sound than Beats' $300 Studio series. :boon:

Technically, I'm allowed to have an opinion as well, which is that Call Me Maybe is the equivalent of a massive kick to the testicles with steel-plated boots.

Yeah I don't mind though, I actually have a fetish that's pretty similar to that.
