Alright, so here's another, and better tings idea!

Bare with me on this one!

And I don't mean strip down!

So the people on this forum who have the top rank (level 50), should have their excess tings put into like a jackpot, and then they should be given out in a random draw. Kinda like free parking on Monopoly. It'd work like the Santa thread. People sign up to the thread, then there's a random draw.

Because what use do these people have for the tings? They've hit the top rank, so surely the tings are redundant.

Thoughts?

They wont give their tings.

But what use do they have other then maybe a gift?

Basically you want a lottery in which the "rich" pay for the poor to win? Can you just re-read what you wrote and attempt to understand how dumb it is?

People with level 49 can enter as well It's not just exclusive to people who are low down in the levels.

How is it stupid though? I know you'er at the top level, so what use other then gifts do you have for any things over the level 50 limit?

It's stupid namely because you obviously see no value in tings beyond the ranking system; it's an economy on this forum for others to use for not only bragging rights but as a means of getting goods out of it (Like signatures for example).

There's also the fact that it is, as mentioned, just another lottery only you want people to put their own tings in for the sake of generosity.

That's actually a point I forgot about, and that's pretty valid. My bad on that part - well not all the tings should be taken, maybe half? That'd work. Yeah but if they have enough left ABOVE level 50 to pay for stuff like sigs then I don't see the problem. Probably like 97% of the forum aren't level 50

The generosity point? That's true to a certain extent, but if you've got like 10k + tings over the top rank, then even if you got a few sigs now and then you'd never spend 'em all. I don't really think people would actually be losing anything!

You do understand that the reason we have the Santa raffle is because it's Christmas right? I.e. the time of giving? This is essentially Santa with donations and no special meaning/reasoning behind it other than the fact you think some members are too rich.

Yeah I understand that, I'm just trying to come up with creative not too disruptive ways of increasing some ting activity that's all .

Well there could be a rule that people at level 50 get free sigs. The people making the sigs get a shot to win the excess tings so they should be happy with that. That could possibly work. Also that's another compensation for donating.

I'd never ask people to donate anything if it'd actually make a difference to them

To many, myself included, tings are just as much a denotation of status as ranks are, so this idea is very single-minded and wouldn't work at all.

Okay I think I'll have to admit that maybe this isn't as good of an idea as I originally thought. I actually had this idea while back, thought it over for a bit and then decided not to post it as it was probably flawed. I think I should have listened to my past self.
