Would you live here?

So, the question in hand is; - (Hypothetically) would you live in one of the most infamous haunted houses in the world? The Amityville Horror house. Aka, 112 Ocean Avenue.

The basic story behind it is that a family of 6 were murdered in the house by their eldest son. Soon after the murders a new family (the Lutzs) moves into the house, and after 21 days they flee the house claiming they were drove out by super natural occurrences.

It’s been debated for years the authenticity of the Lutz’s story, and there have been many investigations into it. Some say it was a clever money making scheme, as it stemmed several movies and book releases.

The success of these media releases was the claim behind them that it was labelled as ‘a true story’. Others believe that there were supernatural forces at work in the house which drove the Lutzs out.

The house as it appeared in 1979 (the time of the murders)

About 3 years ago if you asked me this question, I'd of said no. But I've changed quite a bit as a person now, and I actually think I could live there. If you're super rational about things like this, then it really puts them into perspective. Also one of the most famous ghost photos from this house has been debunked and that's helped me with my decision as well. The house has really moved on from those days, and if you had the inside really bright and open then I don't see how you could get too scared. It's all in your mind really!

So, would you live there?

I've seen the original 1979 film and just by the flies scene alone I'd be like NOPENOPENOPE.

I would live anywhere except where I am living now so I vote yes.
Plus I do not believe in paranormal stuff.
But I would not have money to go in US :P

If anything, it does look like a fairly nice house. Like it was a barn at first, too.

Haha yeah that seems to be a trend, people who were scared by the original film really have it in for that house :P The first Amityville film I saw was the 2005 remake, that's what got me interested in the whole case.

Haha, I've always thought that too! It's like a Satanic soulless barn!

If a house is considered haunted, particularly in the US, its value can be knocked by a quarter. So yes, if the circumstances were right and I could save myself a few bucks, I would live there.

I guess there is still some childish concern in my mind even though I don't believe in ghosts. But it's nothing I couldn't overcome... I think :P

The only thing that 'haunts' me about that case are the crime scene photos, some of them are pretty grim :P - Yeah that's true, that house is worth quite a lot, but not as much as it should be! It's defiantly a good deal. Someday I'd like to own it haha

Haha, what if it ends up costing you those few bucks back, by hiring these people who try to investigate hauntings?

If I owned that house I'd sell out the rooms for tourists to come stay the night for like 100 bucks. Make tonnes of cash.

Hahha yep! :P Pretty much. There are tonnes of fans of the Amityville stuff, they'd all cream their panties to stay a night in there. It'd probably be worth it to also 'scare' them a bit to make sure they get their moneys worth and so they recommend it to friends.

Leave it to me someday!!!!!

I'm sure you'd have a lot of fun, rigging up a haunted house. :P

Haha that's for sure :P You'd have to rig the rooms so the temperature would fluctuate and change loads. Also weird noises and stuff. Haha really make it the full Amityville horror experience ;)

Too bad the owners haven't thought of that or aren't up for it.

I'd milk it to death

uh oh probably not a good thing to say! LOL

Well it'd help if you really knew how to pull off special effects with lighting and audio, then even maybe have the beds rigged up too.

Hahaha, what on like a wire or something, raise that shit up!! LOL

That might be a tad over-kill!!

I think if you stayed the night in a place like that, the fear is all in your mind. Super paranoia, so all you'd have to do was subtle things. Like temperature and weird noses.

Maybe some fake blood running down the side of the door.

Anyway, give me like 20 + years and I'll let you know when I own that soulless barn

Well that shed is like 900k (dollars), gotta earn some l00t first son!! Can't do it in 5 minutes!

Yeah by that stage technology will have moved on..

It'd be so rewarding to read the Amityville book and watch the Amityville films whilst sitting in that house

you'd be like

'oh crap, well at least I don't live there!'....OH WAIT

Though, what if you did buy the house, and suddenly vanish from RaymanPC forever due to some evil spirits? :(

I guess I'd have Zombie Chickens floatin' around everywhere like in Rayman 3 LOL

Idk, that'd be suspicious.

One day I think I will just leave everything behind in the UK, and head to America.
