While it does sound like deton's reference monitor was a 50's tube radio, saying someone's 'fanworks' are shitty/worthless/unwanted with the clear intention of trying to beat them down or hurt their feelings is unhelpful malice.
My comments are It would be fine if he was simply curious as to whether, but he's outright demanding for his re-EQed version to be on RayTunes, saying that the version Drolpiraat had on RayTunes was horrible, and arrogantly assuming his product (the enhancements of which were kind of terrible) was
so much better, effectively implying that Drolpiraat did a terrible job and that he could do better, when he in fact hadn't a clue what he was talking about. I find that attitude extremely dislikable, since it's stupid covered by another, thicker layer of stupid, making a kind of penis sandwich, and thus I got kind of pissed off. Basically, I'm not trying to "beat him down," I'm trying to knock him off his high horse, since nothing else seems to be getting through, and, like I said, no one really wants these contributions, as Drolpiraat's politely tried to say. Malice is sometimes necessary in getting a point across (though it admittedly appeared not to be in this case).
And if it was an actual "fanwork" (as in, if it wasn't simply a re-EQing), I wouldn't act this way regardless of the circumstances, since that's a creative effort on their part and thus deserves some recognition. A re-EQing is simply a re-EQing, which I didn't consider an actual creative endeavor or something that much effort was put into at all (especially since "X-Fi Crystalizer"). If this was something like a remake of the songs, or even an actual remix (as in, not simply different equalization on the final product), my attitude would have been very different.
Also, I wasn't all that harsher than others in this thread, so I'm not completely sure why I'm getting singled out here.
Drolpiraat wrote:Okay, I'm going to be brutally honest. In your first post, you made a lot of claims that didn't make sense. I tried to tell you why they didn't make sense, but you simply don't seem to understand. Well, let me introduce you to the boon smiley:

. You'll be seeing it a lot in the following post. Right now, it is the only way I can express how
monstrously stupid you are.

I get saying this basically proves your point about the comparison to my statement, but this was still quite hurtful regardless (especially since I was attempting to
defend Drolpiraat), and while less nasty than I originally thought you meant, is still arguably nastier than anything I've said to deton.
Adsolution wrote:In my opinion, as an audio engineer, the EQs do sound very bad. Word of advice: Professional mixes like the Rayman 2 soundtrack should be your point of reference, as they're already balanced to near perfection. Every artist has their own style and preference of course, but seeing as you clearly have zero experience in mixing/production (you're using 'entertainment suite software' like XFI Crystaliser, not even a plain, transparent EQ like Q8 or a multiband compressor), I would highly advise you not to think that you know better than Éric Chevalier. If you find that something doesn't sound up-to-stuff on your speakers/headphones, consider first that you may not have very good headphones/speakers, and as such, it's up to you to apply an EQ in Windows that sounds good to you, as it likely won't sound good to anyone with a different system, let alone to someone with an actual mixing station. If you do have a good listening setup, consider your lack of mixing experience first.
Agreed, and this was basically what I was trying to get across.
But, ye, deton, arrogance is a disgusting thing, and it's even worse when you really have no clue what you're talking about. You can make suggestions, sure, but don't act like you know better than everyone else, and just admit to your cluelessness in this realm.
