I'd take a unified R2, indeed. Though with the likes of the PS1 and PS2 versions, that's pretty tricky. Personally, I'd have the DC version as the core of such a concept, with the extra PS1 story elements added on wherever possible. Finally, the PS2 version could serve as a new-game plus sort of reward.

I'd also want to make it unified, and add all those stuff you mentioned. ( though I don't know what do you mean by the orange text? Do you want it to be a separate new game? )

My main idea of the game's concept is to make it more like an story rather than a game. It would take a bit of thinking of how to do that if the DC version were to be the "core", with the Island of Doors / Hall of Doors serving as a hub for the game, though I'd really like to see the Island or Hall included. Maybe players should free-roam it and trigger cutscenes ( like those before the Mask doors in the PS1 version ), or just leave it as it is?

Or maybe we should even mix the hubs together ( the Front with the Island maybe )?

What do you think?

As in, once one completes the classic game, they unlock a sort of Revolution mode, where they can play through the game again from scratch, but in Revolution's style.

Well, I would rather combine the best parts of every game into one. Each of the versions has its own up- and downsides to it, and I would rather mix the best parts together and create something new out of them than to actually leave them mostly the same. Besides, most of the story, the gameplay and basically everything else is the almost the same in both the original version and Revolution, and for some players it might be just enough to finish the game once ( not for me though ) and not have to go through it one more time just to see some slight differences here and there. I think that those aren't enough to motivate a player to complete it another time.

If you don't agree, feel free to tell me why. :)
