Remaking Rayman games - R1, R2, or something else?

I have seen many people ( including myself ) who want some of the older Rayman games to be remade for the current consoles. Because Ubisoft would certainly do nothing with them ( even making an awful "HD port" is not the case, because they started the HD remaking with Rayman 3, so it would be pointless for them to go back to even older ones ), I would like to ask the following questions to everybody on this forum:
1. Do you want to see any of the first Rayman games on current consoles, with improved quality and expanded with new levels?
2. If yes, which one(s)? Rayman 1, Rayman 2, or something else?
3. If it was being developed by "us", the fans, would you like to contribute to it with anything? ( this includes anything, like sharing ideas about what should be changed, what should be included; drawing, making localization etc. )
First I would like to see whether you find this to be a good idea, if yes, then I will share more info.

Well I'm no programmer, but I would be on board with helping make a R1 HD remake, which could have all the exclusive content found in within the many variations of the game.

As I already said, I'd love to see a remake of Rayman 2. I could contribute ideas, and maybe a (very) small amount of technical stuff if "we" were to make it.

I'd love to see a remake of you-know-which-game, but I really don't see it ever happening. I consider Origins to be somewhat of a remake of it, even though continuity-wise it's not (Hahaha, continuity in the Rayman universe, haha). Point is, they'd replace most of the cast with their Origins counterparts or teensies if they did.
If we did it ourselves that'd be super duper but I'd probably be well settled into a cardboard box with no wi-fi by then.

Well, as I said, with the likes of Terminapor's RayEngine (what's the current status of that BTW?) such a remake might be more realistic than you think…

You know what I think would be rockin' cool for a R1 remake? To go a little more in-depth with the characters. Not to the point of changing the game and story too much, just maybe give some characters a couple more lines and actions. It's funny to think how much the educational spinoffs told about Betilla and the Magician, while the original game didn't tell much about them at all.

Oh, I just remembered another cool thing about the PC version that's not in any others – those little cinematics of Rayman against a black screen after each boss fight. Can't believe I never thought of those before!

There hasn't been anything new in months.

I could possibly do a remake of Rayman 1 when I finish Rayman: Razorbeard's Vengeance.

I see. Is it possible for users to make things with it now?

Not anything stable at the moment. Terminapor also took down the latest download link, if i remember correctly.

Aw that's too bad.

Maybe a remake wouldn't be as easy as I first thought…

Even with RayEngine, it might be a bit difficult to implement something new that wasn't previously in the game. It would be good if it would be available though.

I remember Omar wanting to start a community project about remaking Rayman 1 in HD.

Yes, we were talking about it back then, and he said he could do some programming.
Anyways, since there is a huge amount of levels found in Rayman Designer, Junior, 60 Levels etc. , I think some of those should be modified and included in Rayman 1's level list. Not all of them though, because some of them feature a layout which is very convoluted or simply doesn't fit into Rayman 1's kind. Rayman 1's levels are also separated into somewhat short phases, while in other games they are not, so the really long levels are out as well.
I also thought of expanding some of the levels with more phases, the ones that consist of only 2 or 3 parts, maybe some from Designer or Junior should be merged into them in this case. These levels are: Anguish Lagoon, Gong Heights, Mr. Sax's Hullaballoo, Twilight Gulch, Crystal Palace and Mr. Skops's Stalactites.
Or some levels from the other games will be included as an extra where you can, for example get more lives, though I think merging levels is a better option.
What do you think? Which levels should be included?

Ah yes, and I was using S2HD as a cautionary tale, since then it apparently got back on track, but I'm not sure how it's come since. As for extras, well, why not use them as post-game expansion mode? Let's now forget the ambiguous present and the anticlimactic end.
I digress however, I'd like to see the entire Original trilogy remastered proper, but that's a want that I doubt I'll see proper fulfilment to, but one can dream, no? Rayman 2 would be a touched up merging of concepts from the PC, DC and PS2 versions, perhaps with the expanded Revolution setup as a post-game challenge mode?
It's funny how Rayman titles tend to vary by console, I don't think there's been any title in the main series that hasn't had an exclusive feature or some intriguing difference in one version or another.

I share the exact same feeling.

What do you mean by that challenge-mode?

So, anyone who wants to help in making e.g. the graphics?

Rayman 1 first.
