I've managed to automate everything with a Python script, and for most segments it has removed the silence perfectly, but of course we will still have to listen to everything just in case there are any other bad segments left. The skate music was also trimmed wrongly, as the GC version has every two measures in one file, while the PS3 version has them all in separate files. I had to use AutoTrim for that one, but it turned out mostly fine. :D

It's not all good however: there are still some audible jumps between segments due to bad cutting on the developers' part (some segments are cut off slightly too early in the PS3 version as opposed to the GC one). I've only heard it in 2 or 3 tracks so far, so there aren't much. I guess we'll have to patch these up manually...

I'll upload the trimmed segments tomorrow. Hopefully we can start actually joining the segments then! :)

God damn Ubisoft and their segments.

Maybe the composers used 32kHz samples, and the PS3 version's audio is not remastered from the 22kHz version, but from the high(er) quality tracks.
Very good hypothesis. But my remaster from 22kHz also gives also only 32kHz, so everything is possible.
I'm just wondering what was meant by 'remastered' if it meant adding frequencies but it didn't entail re-bouncing the tracks.
So how it would be called for marketing purposes?

Actually, what do you mean exacly by re-bouncing?
Mixing again, and than applying all ehhh... filters, processing?
Well, it doesn't work, it removes way too much silence as well. Heh, I don't know why I didn't think that would happen.
This silence is too short. It's milliseconds. Automated functions goes crazy.
the amount of silence at the end seems random (from my own compression tests, it ends up being anywhere from <1 to 25 ms)
It's similarly as in Rayman 2 PSX rip. It's terrible.
we could use a (command-line) program to export the length of the PS2 version's segments into a file and use that to trim the PS3 segments properly...
Genius...
The skate music was also trimmed wrongly, as the GC version has every two measures in one file, while the PS3 version has them all in separate files. I had to use AutoTrim for that one, but it turned out mostly fine.
I have a few settings for Reaper which can works properly.
If some groups of segments is still undone properly, just place it in other folder (if it's not cutted to much. If yes, give original instead), and I'll try to fix it, if auto trim or any other option fails.

Good work Drolpiraat. You are making more professional work than Ubi did. It's great.

Given how Rayman 3 HD went, pretty much anyone could do a better job than Ubisoft did. They can't even chop up their audio files on the beat!

Yeah, but someone gave us "remastered"(?) version though.
From 22kHz or 32KHz, it doesn't matter. It sounds good.

Here are the trimmed segments: https://mega.co.nz/#!7INCSDZT!_obRMxOLS ... IZTRMLdU10
I also added a folder "22kHz" containing extra segments that aren't used in Rayman 3 HD but are in other versions. They'll have to be combined with the R3HD tracks for the soundtrack. All of the 22kHz-only tracks are already completed, so all that remains is in the archive. :)

This is the process that awaits us (mostly me, though):
  1. Determine the correct order of the segments. Listen to the track in that order. Try to combine variations of the same track, unless the result is too long or it doesn't flow right. If the order is unclear, join the segments based on how well they fit together.
  2. If you hear any pops/clicks/silence due to bad cuts from the developers, edit them out manually on sample-level. In the unlikely case that too much was trimmed, use the untrimmed segment from the archive in this post.
  3. Use the corrected segments and let everything loop at least once (but not more than twice), unless you feel the track is long enough as it is. If there is no outro segment, have a fade out of about 10 seconds, but make sure you loop the part of the track that gets faded out.
  4. Repeat the previous steps for every single track.
So despite this tiring process, who wants to help get this ready sooner? :P
deton24 wrote:Actually, what do you mean exacly by re-bouncing?

I'm pretty sure bouncing is a synonym for exporting a mix to a single track, so that should be about right.
The soundtrack is definitely not re-bounced, otherwise the errors in it would have disappeared. Check at 2:04 in MS_SwG_03PlatForm_00.wav to hear what I'm talking about. The Skate tracks have the same problem. It's like that in all of the versions, sadly. :/

I'd be grateful if you did that. A lot of the segments starting with "MG_Skate" still have very tiny amounts of silence. I manually edited it out where it was really obvious, but it's still not perfect. A lot of those segments have bad cuts, too, and the untrimmed files don't help. I corrected it manually in some places.

Seriously, I hate that Skate track. So many segments, so many errors. That thing gave me hell the first time I ripped it (461 scrambled segments and no filenames to put them in the correct order, silence between every segment and no tools to remove that automatically), and now it's giving us hell again. :pfff:

Allright captain. Great work.
So now what left:
1. Arrangement (putting segments in correct order, and repeat segments):

I recommend to use Foobar for joining segments and putting in order.
Right click at marked files in playlist, and convert losslessly to wav.
Then create new playlist for new song.
It's better to save all playlist betweenwhiles to backup.
2. Editing of bad segments with silence

As I said, Reaper can handle it. We can share some settings for silence detection. I'll do it too in future.
Seriously, I hate that Skate track. So many segments, so many errors.
But song is awesome, isn't it?

About arrangement/joining segments I have Idea. It's very time-consuming to do it well. So better to organise it. Little summary.

_________________________________________________________
Let's make Rayman 3 HD Remastered Soundtrack
Here is a segments for join to create each song from beginning to ending.
https://mega.co.nz/#!7INCSDZT!_obRMxOLS ... IZTRMLdU10
If you have correct order and done group of segments for songs,
write it here what you did, and then edit your same post about it, giving more done titles in future.
It's for not doing same songs by more people at same time.

You can easily take pattern by this arrangement:
http://raytunes.raymanpc.com/rayman3.html

If some segments are not joined well with each other, (cutted/trimmed badly), if you hear any pops/clicks/silence you'll have to edit (or trim part of) the waves manually, not just trim the silence manually, just to make it sound it right.
Or just give us correct order of segments on screen or in playlist.
In the unlikely case that too much was trimmed, use the untrimmed segment from here.
https://mega.co.nz/#!nA8hTAjA!sXWjWMOsC ... GleqB4Xr3A

at the end, we'll share with complete music.

deton24 wrote:2. Editing of bad segments with silence
deton24 wrote:If some segments are not joined well with each other, (cutted/trimmed badly) use unprocessed segments from here, and edit them manually to trim silence precisely:
No no, the silence is usually trimmed exactly right, but the segments still have pops or clicks, because the sound wave is cut improperly (by the developers, usually not by the trimming process). So you'll have to edit (or trim part of) the waves manually, not just trim the silence manually.

You mean music is trimmed too much, originally?
So it will be very difficult to fix it. During joining there will be always pops and clicks if music is trimmed between two segments. 22kHz could help, but it's so, so time-consuming to match it. You know, that distortions create during joining segments. We can't trim it.

Indeed, that's what I mean. It doesn't occur often so it's nothing to worry about. 99/100 segments should be fine already.
When it does occur, It's possible to fix it by trimming two segments to match the sound wave at the ending of the first segment with the sound wave at the beginning of the second one, like this: http://i.imgur.com/6jK6hPM.png (it's worth noting that I used the original, untrimmed segments for this picture)
As you can see, on both ends of the selection, the sound waves match. Trimming that part will get rid of the pop/click.
You can also just smooth out the sound wave like this: http://i.imgur.com/aNmrg2H.png
Another solution is to let me know about it and I'll fix it myself. :P

The only segments that should still have silence are the Skate ones, so feel free to let your silence detection tools work on those! :)

Understood. I know what you mean. Permeation of two segments to avoid pops and clicks in some DAW. I've done this before. Rest will be done in Foobar, and order is also more comfortable to set in Foobar too.
Greetings in last day of the year.

Whole Skate music have been joined seamlessly by Foobar, exclude 2-3 places originally wrongly trimmed by devs.
Breaks create by playing lot of files in order, file by file, but there is no any flaw in files.
So there should be no problem with joining rest. Still, there will be a lot of work with arrangement.

Does anyone have any opinions on whether it would be appropriate to include any of Rayman 1's PC tracks on RayTunes? Some, take Bzzit Attacks for instance, are clearly more produced and have a slightly modified arrangement, and for Lost in the Woods, the way in which the ambience is mixed is completely different (arguably superior, it's much more spacious and easier to listen to and with more effects). The PC version also contains an extra fast-wind ambient track in the Blue Mountains which isn't in the PS1 soundtrack.

I haven't listened closely enough to detect subtler differences, but there are probably other tracks in the PC version that contain superior mixes as well, and I'm wondering if, for those that aren't too different or chopped up, it would be good to replace some of the RayTunes tracks with the PC ones if we can assemble them properly (maybe even, for where some of the PC tracks fade in/out, we fade in/out of the PS1 tracks).

Just an idea I had. Even if this isn't a remote possibility I'll still give it a go as a personal project and upload it to MediaFire. The reason I'm hoping this would be acceptable is due to the fact that, unlike, say, cutting together the 44khz and 22khz Rayman 2 soundtracks, there would be a technical consistency going on here, and I'd care to argue that those PC tracks that do have altered mixes are to some degree objectively superior.

Sure! I didn't know that there were any arrangement differences between versions. Adding extra tracks would also provide an excellent opportunity to revisit some naming choices of existing tracks (The Cake is a Lie? Cloak of Darkness? Seriously?).
I'll take a look at it soon. I'm kind of busy this month (it's my exam month), so either in a few weeks or next month. :)

Also, as of 14/02, I finished every track of the R3 soundtrack. I'll upload them in FLAC format as soon as I have time. :)

I actually like this one a lot. But yeah, perhaps it would be better to give some of the other ones (especially that other one you mentioned, hehe) some more subtle names.

Also, I did look around, but I couldn't find a reason anywhere: How come some soundtracks don't have individual links and are only in ZIP form?

When you do, just note that the right and left channels on the PC soundtrack are swapped for some reason, so don't mistake that for a difference in the mix.

Few my favourite tracks I made for my self, I have arrangement on a mind, so they're optional, because I forgot to mention about them before update of Droolie's list (I'm sorry) or just for my self. So, some of them - their mark of segment, had been done previously by Droolie, by I put them here also (more last in list). Maybe some of these segments will be abandoned in progress, we will see, but few are done.
Done on the list means that, order of tracks is done. Finally it would need fade out. It will be done when I realize what is done at all, and what left to arrangement - on the end. And also, lot of "in progress" segments means, almost done, or done, because that was some time meanwhile, to do some progress on it.

Thanks for that, it looks like I've been forgetting to update the first post. It's fixed now! :)

@deton24, I've uploaded an archive with all of the tracks in FLAC (but still unnamed). There are 233 tracks (the music, jingles, videos, ambients, beta music and some extra stuff), and it's 2.47GB so it's a pretty big download:

Code: Select all

https://mega.co.nz/#!zE0z0YAC!n0aCiJr7Vl1uUSwCjal-rGIuy6gUyO-ACG0tv-K6KBY
Let me know if there are any tracks that we both did and that you think you did better. :)
I'm also still thinking about whether or not to include some of the extra stuff (prefixed with "E_") and all the different Wanna Kick Rayman video tracks (prefixed with "V_WKR_") - one should be enough, right?
