Re: Please introduce yourself here
I suppose now's as good a time as any to introduce myself.
Hello, I am Slogbait. As you can tell by my name, I am a fan of Oddworld. It is my absolute favourite game series and I could go on for days about how much I love it, but this is not an Oddworld forum nor thread, so I will leave it at that. Rayman games have always come a very close second. The games had captivated me since the North American release of Rayman 1, when one of my mom's friends had bought the game and brought it over to show her. I've tried numerous times in the past to integrate myself into a Rayman community of any kind, including when Raymanzone was a thing. I would always find myself going back into the shadows because I don't know if you guys have noticed, but there are some very scary Rayman fans out there.
Here I am, though.
I draw frequently, as well as occasionally work on a song or two for fun. I hope to one day become a game designer, as I find video games to be the perfect way to tell a story. Somewhere down the road, I'm bound to open a thread to post fanart.
Also, I'd like to thank you guys for being so welcoming. I can say it was certainly a surprise. Though I hadn't posted in the introduction thread or attempted to introduce myself otherwise, a good handful of you had taken note I was new and welcomed me in some way.
And one more thing. I'm pretty confused about how things around here work? The threads frequently go off topic for pages on end, I find it difficult to tell the difference between Off-topic and the Members Forum a lot of the time, and there's no set list of rules here. It's difficult for me to know what would and wouldn't be considered a step out of line, and I don't want to find myself scrambling about in the open space by accident.

Welcome Slogbait, you seem like a very great addition for the community! Seeing all the Oddworld fans here on these forums just proves I seriously need to play one, I'm considering Strangers Wrath on either Steam or my vita.

I'm glad to see that you introduced yourself, SlogBait!
Welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay!
I can tell you that the Oddworld games are among my favourite game series ever, being my favourite of the four the Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. I've been playing recently the HD version of Munch in my PS3. I invite you to talk about the games in the Oddworld topic that was created in the Off-Topic forums:
http://www.raymanpc.com/forum/viewtopic ... 5&p=738763
Unfortunately I can agree there are pretty obscure "Rayman fans", at least out of the forums but the best thing is not everybody is like that.
I guess you aren't the only one that wants to be a game designer in this forum (other members know who am I talking about), good luck with that!
The Members Forum is mostly for subjects related with the RPC itself, but more in the community itself. For real subjects about the forums, its the Rayman Pirate Community forums. Rayman related stuff go to the Rayman forums, and any other subject not related with Rayman or the other two things go to the Off-Topic forums (like Oddworld).
I hope I made it clear, and if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask us.

Re: Please introduce yourself here
Ah, Slogbait, though we've had an encounter before, I've never actually properly welcomed you.
So here it is, welcome to the Rayman Pirate Community! I'm fellow member Master4lyf1, and fellow Rayman fan.
I'm sure you've roamed around, but please, do look at the facilities we have on offer, the Raywiki we have here is probably the finest Rayman wiki you'll find on the internet, and is maintained by some of the most knowledgeable members from this community. RayTunes, unfortunately, is having issues at the moment, but it is a facility filled with musical pieces from many past Rayman games upto the recent Origins.
Don't mind the off-topicness, the mods are OK with it as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

There's a great place for that in the Rayman->Fanworks section of the forum. Check it out!Slogbait wrote:I draw frequently, as well as occasionally work on a song or two for fun. When the subject about which we talk turns sour or we run out of information to talk about, we talk about anything, really. This happens most frequently in the official game threads, probably because most people are involved in them. As long as the off-topic is harmless and doesn't go on after the mods call out to stop, everyone's fine with it. I'd compare this community more to a real-life discussion than your average internet forum; the discussion will derail into many other things than it originally started as, but there'll always be someone bringing it back on track.Slogbait wrote:And one more thing. WELCOME, SLOGBAIT! Do not eat our cookies, because we like them very much, and also detest having to re-enter our password every time we come here. Be careful of the monsters lurking in the shallow waters of the topic-killing Off-Topper marshes, but don't let the robots stab you in the back either! They will show no remorse and continue to pillage your world's Energy and will at the same time offer you a great deal at their local webstore. The wise words of Polokus will guide you in the dark and the deceptions of Jano will steer you towards the graveyard of all good forum-goers... yes... don't get on Humch's bad side, or you're in for a real treat!
Overall, enjoy and be nice to the others. Welcome to the familiy!

Thank you guys again for being so welcoming. It makes conversing so much easier. Also, sorry, this is going to be a long post. I tried to trim it down a bit, but I don't think I was very successful in that endeavor.
In the past I had the misfortune of constantly running into the more obscure fans. I'm pretty much immune to them at this point, but when I was significantly younger they were the type of people to avoid at all costs, haha.
If I have any more questions in the future, I won't hesitate to ask, no worries.
Thanks for the tidbits of advice!
You really should! I would strongly recommend if you get Stranger's Wrath to get the HD version on something you can play with an HD screen. JAW did a fantastic job on it and though it is significantly different from the other Oddworld games in terms of gameplay, it is still a great example of what the series has to offer.Rayfist wrote:Welcome Slogbait, you seem like a very great addition for the community! It's always great to meet other fans of the games, and I'm pleasantly surprised at the amount of people on here who enjoy them as much as I do! My favourite is definitely Abe's Oddysee, though mainly because the way the story was told was so beautifully done despite the story itself being rather cliche. AE was a bit more light hearted and the controls were a lot... better, for lack of words, and while it was just as fun as the first, it was missing that small sliver of atmosphere that made the first game so good in my eyes.Haruka wrote:I'm glad to see that you introduced yourself, SlogBait!Welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay!

I've noticed Raytunes had been having issues and was going to ask about it at some point, but some of the people who have posted more recently in the subforum pretty much covered any questions I had. Hopefully things get sorted out soon, I'd really like to get my hands on R3HH's OST.Master4lyf1 wrote:Ah, Slogbait, though we've had an encounter before, I've never actually properly welcomed you.

Re: Please introduce yourself here
I only think that the lack of quicksave in Oddysee can make the game unnecessarily frustrating when you are trying to save all Mudokons. The lack of status windows also make you have no idea how many Mudokons you saved so far (Yes, I'm talking about Mosaic Lines, Scrabania and Paramonia). The controls aren't as sharp as Exoddus, which makes some secret areas being a true hell (Urgh, the one of the Scrab, holes in the path and the 3 employees up...). Hopefully they'll fix this in New N Tasty, since I read they will include Quicksave, thank god!

It livens up whenever anybody posts something. Most of the projects posted there now are either busily being developed (there's nothing new to report) or have been suspended. Or they are simply showcase threads, so there's only the occassional post from the topic creator that shows off some artwork.Slogbait wrote:I've seen! It seems to be quiet there for the most part.

Ya, this is true. There's a lot going on with Revenge of the Dark at the moment for instance; I mean, more than there ever has been, but there's nothing more than simple words that can be shared at the moment. Drolpiraat is also very busy with his script for Dreambound, which obviously he can't really showcase.

Clearly it's a bit late to be doing this now, but welcome all the newcomers to the forum. Hopefully you've been enjoying your stay thus far, and hopefully we've all enjoyed having you here.
I guess I should be a bit more active on here, shouldn't I?
...Yeah, I suppose I should really. I'll try to be a bit more frequent nowadays, instead of just being a lurker on the IRC.
*Ahem* yes, welcome!

Re: Please introduce yourself here
Okay, I guess I might as well introduce myself a bit. I'm Dark Lum Lord and - I'm sure some of you have assumed this by now - my username refers to André from Rayman 3. I joined PC this morning. Rayman 2 is one of my favorites in the series, if not my number one favorite, and it's the first Rayman game I've played. I own all three of the games, in addition to Rayman Arena and Rayman Raving Rabbids. I first heard of the series due to the Internet - oh how I love the Internet. Anyways, I've already known about Pirate Community for a bit. I'm not sure exactly how long, but I've known about it for maybe a few months or one year, or something like that. I was a bit hesitant of joining at first, hence why it took me this long, because I was afraid I wouldn't really make the right impression, fit in, etc. (I'm a very anxious person).
I had only heard of RaymanZone rather recently, as well, but I didn't even bother thinking of making an account there, due to what I've heard about the place. In addition to that, RaymanZone just looks pretty boring compared to this place. Anyways, that's all the time I have to introduce myself, since I have to go right now, but I might talk more later.

Heeellloo there, André, chum-ol'-pal! It's good of you to finally abandon those wannabe-criminal Hoodlums and join the real in-crowd. Welcome to the family. Do not, I repeat, not eat the cookies. No, actually, you know what, I'd like you to have one. Here. Have one. Be my guest. Seriously - eat up. It's fine, I swear. Nothing bad will become of you. It's not like Foutch will come about and hunt you down or anything. It's not like Razorbeard will personally descend from his ship to come and punish you. And I am certainly not going to be the one tipping him off about you.
I, er.... I've got to go now... some completely, totally unrelated things I have to take care of. Gotta run! It was nice knowing ya!

Ah, g'day to you, master of the Dark Lum army, supreme lord of the Dark Energies, and winner of the most whiny, irritable villain award, to the Rayman Pirate Community, I'm Master4lyf1, the fellow who wasn't in the stomach of a sniveling buffoon.
All joking aside, a most warm welcome to the community! It certainly has it's benefits against the other forum, for one, we have a grand collection of Rayman OSTs for your listening pleasure, kept aloft by the brilliant Droolpirat!
We also have the biggest and probably the best Rayman wiki on the net, feel free to visit and integrate the knowledge it contains.
All in all, have a good time here, and heed Shroobie's advice.

Except you can't find it in the regular location on RayTunes (see front page) right now since there's some trouble with the servers at the moment.Master4lyf1 wrote:we have a grand collection of Rayman OSTs for your listening pleasure, kept aloft by the brilliant Droolpirat!
EDIT:
I'll have to revise that - you can still play music files. There's something wrong though. Check the appropriate topic, instead of taking words second-hand from me.
