AR- GCN Questions.

If anyone on this site has or has had experience with a Gamecube Action Replay, I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out. I've searched for ages all over the web, but I just can't find what I'm looking for.

1. What is a "debug mode"?
2. Is the aforementioned mode used in making your own AR codes?
3. Is it difficult to make your own codes?
4. How do you make your own codes? :P
5. What does "ram freezing" mean? o.0
6. When you add more codes, does it store them permanently on the memory card? I mean, after adding a code, is re-activating it just a matter of selecting it or something?
7. Do you have to use the memory card in the pack, or can you use your own?
8. Why do the codes always seem to be a completely random collection of numbers?
9. Is everything running a game hidden somewhere in the RAM? I've seen codes for Sonic Adventure 2: Battle that can alter the gravity direction; does this mean that somewhere, a ram address is defining the direction the gravity goes?
10. Why is it that the postal service is always so SLOW? (If you hadn't guessed already, I don't actually have an AR yet. :P It's in the post. >.<)

If anyone can answer any of these questions I'd greatly appreciate it. Just to be gimmicky, I'll also give some tings depending on how helpful it is :P

Eh.. I've never seen the point; aside from 2p games, you can play GBA games easily enough on the computer, and with a free Action Replay function. Not to mention you can activate way more codes than you can on a real GBA without it crashing..

But yeah, anyway.. anyone else got any answers? :(

I'll try to help:

1. Debug mode is a program in the game the developers used to test the game. It can unlock tons of possibilities, such as playing as NPCs! In most games, it was taken out. But in some games, like SSBM, they accidentally left it in.

2. You do use an AR code to acess it.

3. Yes

4. No clue

5. no clue

6. Yes, the new codes are saved to the AR memory card

7. You must use the memory card in the pack

8. They are just certain values converted to AR code format

9. Yes, there is probably an address for everything that is changable in the game (i.e. health)

10. It all depends on your location.

Thanks.. *50 tings* I've gotten the AR.. as it happens, it's the newest version, which means I can't add my own codes anyway. -.- Bah.

But, it does have a code which activates a debug mode for Sonic Heroes. (A little menu pops up from the bottom.) Next question I have is, how do you control debug mode to let you use NPC's and other stuff? All I've noticed is that if I press the click on the r button something seems to turn on in the debug panel. I'm currently wondering how to control it :P Further information on this would be EXTREMELY welcome. And I mean extremely. I remember, vaugly, before I even knew about the AR, some screenshots on a google image search of the Sonic Heroes debug menu being used for some very good cheats, some of which are not available through normal codes. >.> Like editing the character sizes. Yeah, I'm kinda fixated on those codes. Tiny ninja skillz!

I don't see why you might need codes to play a game. Codes ruin games.

I don't get how someone can work it. It seems so complex to work.

The principle of Action Replay is that it does the complex things for you.

And hey, I wouldn't say that using codes is bad unless I'd actually tried. I have, and I quite like it. Some people might find it makes the games boring; but I can play all day with codes, then play without them and enjoy it just as much.

Still, that's just opinion. I usually prefer to play the game through with codes, after beating it normally.

It's not complex to work at all.
