*Bump* Am I the only one who likes BIONICLE, here?

I have been reading the comics lately and there are a lot of things I missed by not having done so before. :o

Nope, you are not

Although I don't collect them lately, I do follow up current news about franchise.

I was a big fan of the franchise, because of the characters, the universe and the history. I own a lot of figures, most of the video games and the four movies. I've read some books and comic books, and I've played to the online games.
After the end of Bionicle, I wasn't interested in the new franchise, Hero Factory. And at present, I'm not interested in the Bionicle reboot.

I was sceptical with the reboot at first too but I decided to learn more about it once I started seeing the new figures going for selling. I saw good Youtube videos of reviewers of the new toys and the real-life look was better than what the initial pictures were giving me the feeling. Then I decided to explore their renewed official website and watch the short-episodes. In the end I accepted it and ended up collecting the whole Wave 1 of 2015, including the polybag of the Blue-Skull Spider with Translucid Orange Mask of Fire (I miss the Kanohi Hau term). I am interested in collecting the Wave 2 once I catch the figures in shops here (which is going to be very soon) and hopefuly in sales. From Wave 3 on I will only select one or other that I like most.

The reboot isn't as bad as I was thinking it would be, I am actually enjoying it so far. Sure, the first episodes were not mind-blowing (the Lord of the Skull Spiders was a joke in my opinion) but these new Skull enemies are making the story more interesting lately. It is important to note that the lore is nothing related with the first generation and it now bets in simplicity but if you are opened enough you will end up enjoying, I believe.

As for Generation 1, I very recently decided to give a shot to the comics and finished reading until 2008's arc. There's still lot to learn about through the written books, interviews with the writter, bioniclestory's site, and other kind of information sources but just by catching up comics I caught plenty of things I didn't during my childhood. And the lore was one of the things that made me hooked to the franchise, especially in Mata Nui's arc which is my top favourite. My collection mostly consists in this arc, and used to have a fair ammount of Metru Nui arc figures until I sold the majority to buildersith in order to get the reboot ones.

I saw the new figures and some videos on the official Bionicle website. It's not bad, far from it. The lore is nice, the Toas and the Skull Army are good-looking. But I couldn't explain why I'm not interested by the reboot. Maybe I lost my interest in Bionicle between 2010 and 2015. Or maybe it's the age. :|

I played a lot to Bionicle Heroes. It only takes place on Voya Nui, but it is full of references to the Mata Nui and the Metru Nui events, with the Toa weapons, the impressive mask collection, the Bohrok, the Vahki, the Visorak, the Dark Hunters... The game is also very repetitive, but it didn't bother me. I enjoyed exploring the levels with the Inika, the Piraka or Vezon to collect informations on the enemies, the characters and the masks. The music was excellent. It is still among my computer files.

The online games (especially Mata Nui Online Game, Mata Nui Online Game II and Voya Nui Online Game) were great. Too bad they weren't translated in French, like most of the Bionicle-related things. But I have bad memories of Draw a Piraka, Barraki Teaser Game and Creeps from the Deep, with their damn screamers...

I love the Mata Nui Online game, I think that for a 2001 flash game it is really well made. I should replay it soon. :D

As for the sequel I never completed it but did not feel like the same thing, sadly.

Never played BIONICLE Heroes but reviews did not convince me to get the game either.

Me either. What were the bad points, according to you?
Haruka wrote:Never played BIONICLE Heroes but reviews did not convince me to get the game either.
I didn't wait the reviews to buy it, and when I read them, I thought they were harsh. The game isn't that bad. I recommend you to give it a try if you find it.
The first Bionicle game (the one who takes place during the Bohrok invasion and the search for the Mask of Light) was bad, however.

I played the original game and it did suffer with the short deadlines that Argonaut Software had. I did not find really bad but that there were lots of plotholes, there were. The game could have been much better.

As for Heroes I might consider playing it in future.

From what I remember it was too centered in Ga-Koro, wasn't it? I believe it felt action aswell.

IMO, Heroes is just a Call of Duty set in BIONICLE world. Original game is better than Heroes and only play Heroes if you don't mind shooters and just want to look at the game from LEGO aspects.

I myself don't think Heroes is bad game but it is not impressive for me either.
