Me either. I wanted that i7-3940XM on my next laptop but the price increased 1000€ more. I instead bought the Intel Core i7-3840QM because it was 2x cheaper but not that bad.technology4617 wrote: Well, I agree, but I still worry about money when buying something, so I have to make a few compromises. For instance, I wanted a Xeon or i7 Extreme processor in my desktops instead of the Core i7-3770K, but I settled on the i7-3770K because it was less expensive. I won't spend ridiculous amounts of money on things, but I won't completely cheap out on them either.
What kind of audio system do you have on your computer?

Re: What kind of audio system do you have on your computer?
Well, I've long since updated my computer sound system... strayed away from the crummy Bose for something that sounds better, goes louder, and has real bass and real power!
My Vintage Marantz Model 2500 Stereo Receiver that produces a woopin' 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 330 watts per channel into 4 ohms, at 0.05% THD at 20Hz to 20kHz.
Powering a pair of Vintage Cerwin-Vega S-1s with a frequency rating of 28Hz to 20kHz ±4dB, sensitivity of 98dB at 1 watt at 1 meter, power handling of 200 watts RMS.
All from the late 70's. Speakers from 1978 to be precise, and the receiver was manufactured between 1977 and 1979.
Picture of the sound system before I properly arranged my desk for the computer with them.

That's what happens to a speaker when you play the THX music.

Anyway, I'll eventually get a DAC to run for the system off the desktop computer. Just not sure when.

Oh wow, I need to update my list...
Well, here's my setup:

Vintage Pioneer SX-1980 stereo receiver and Cerwin-Vega S-1 speakers, that our dear Rulez made a funny picture of, above.
