RPC Art Contest - For tings and charity
Posted: Mon Aug 24, 2015 8:07 am
Welcome to a slightly unoriginal but moral contest by me. Anyway, I thought it'd be fun to give this a shot so let me just cut right to the explanation:
> In this contest, participators can submit RPC themed art for a chance to win 1000 tings. "RPC themed" implies art specifically revolving around our community itself: Design your own top banner for the site, turn a set of posts into a cartoon, redraw some of the icons/signatures of members on here, etc. Ex: Brad nailed RPC themed art for our 10th anniversary
> For every piece of art submitted, I will donate to charity (5 US Dollars/4.37 Euros). Right now SOTM has 12 signatures submitted, that would equal 60 USD if we could achieve the same thing here.
> You don't need to be an art pro to submit. If you can throw something neat together with photoshop or GIMP, go for it. Just don't submit anything you're already submitting to SOTM/Manipulate The Image
> Each participating member will be allowed to pick what organisation their donation goes to
> On the 29th of September we'll vote the winner of the contest, so you'll have five weeks to submit your entry
Organisations to choose from:
American Red Cross
Donations help fund families who've been struck by natural disasters and need help getting back on their feet. Food, shelter, counseling, etc is all funded by donations.
Make-A-Wish
Donations go to funding the wishes of children diagnosed with severe, life-threatening diseases
Defenders of Wildlife
Protect wild animals and their habitats from being disrupted and fight animal extinction
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Funds research on MS and helps people diagnosed with MS and their families move forward in life
---
Note:
- I'm donating via a page that attempts to reach certain goals by certain dates. Most likely we'll see a few more choices pop up there, in which case I'll add them to the list. There's also a small chance that one of the choices will leave the list, in which case I'll inform you if you've already placed your donation on it (but this is unlikely to happen)
- I highly doubt it'll happen, but note that in order for me to pull this off, I'm kinda bullshitting around on a "do stuff for money" site, as otherwise it'd take weeks longer to gain the money. It's not illegal & both the site + advertisers actually make money off of me, but it technically is breaking their guidelines and although I'm nearly convinced it won't happen, there's a tiny chance I might be detected before gaining the money. Nothing to worry about since I've been doing this for months now and I'm extremely careful, but you never know. If this somehow does happen, I suppose we'll turn donations into tings.
- If we like this and it's popular, maybe we could do it like 1-2 times a year. I'd like to aim for 50$!
