It is from Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc and was an almost unseen character in Begoniax's swamp.

If you look closely in the Rayman3 levels, you can see that the makers tried to put many weird creatures just as eye-candy.

That is the only weird creature that I've seen in any of the levels.

Yeah that's exactly what I meant. Although there are also Matuvu's and Tribelle's, but those do have a function in the game.
